Situational awareness is always first. A gun is always the last resort. Any decent concealed carry instructor will tell you this. But we're also the most hated minority in the country right now. It's entirely a valid thing.

I lived in a state where this was a problem until two years ago. I still carried. That's also why I'm no longer in said state. Leaving isn't an option for everyone. Avoiding everything isn't always an option either. Carrying can help.

Terrible advice. Jail is better than death. And not every instance of this happening results in the trans person going to jail. Often times the presence of a firearm can deter violence.
