"The success of NIMBYs has come at an incredibly high price for younger and new Canadians, who have to contend with rising rents and ludicrously high home prices in our big (and increasingly, not-so-big) cities." @maxfawcett.bsky.social nails it here. Resistance to change foments a housing crisis.

Humans are neurologically wired to be social, built for reliance on others to survive, deteriorate if isolated, and operate most efficiently in culture and communities. If the U.S. isn't funding community healthcare - like every other major first world country - do they want people to fail?

I had in American colleague tell me that Canadians should come back and visit again. My response was pretty simple - we'd love to come back and visit. But it's not up to us, it's up to you. Put in the work.

We would love to come back and support your beautiful location in California. And we know how much our dollars can help the economy there. But this is a matter of national pride, and I think any reasonable person would probably agree that we have to take action somehow. Hopefully we'll be back!

Of all the major AI tools, Grok is the last one anyone should be using. And I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears.

I'm becoming more and more convinced he's trying to build this because he plans to bunker down in DC in 2028. Just a bunch, but you don't do something self-serving like this unless you plan to be there - a lot.

It must be fatiguing to live like this. Giving middle fingers to buildings is . . . a choice. When will these people realize they can always just leave if they don't like something? If they want to leave Canada, they're welcome to any time. That's what planes and suitcases are for.

As a Canadian, we show our provincial health cards at the "Olive Garden" and we get "unlimited pasta" for our healthcare needs, when we need it. Works beautifully. These Republican talking heads are making a great case for "unlimited pasta" at "Olive Garden."

What's worse than him saying it is other people behind him who don't correct him on this or anything else. They just let him go like a raving, delirious lunatic. Then they go to extreme lengths to tell us that the grapefruit-in-chief is right about everything.

That tweet is a complete bad faith gaslighting, especially to those who actually listened to the interview. Very amateurish move & disappointing from someone so highly educated from a think tank repping the O/G sector. @ryanjespersen.bsky.social - I loved the debate, but this is unfortunate.

I love Scott's content, but not sure I agree with this. What is a successful company? It's subjective. Revenue generation? Profit margin? Customer satisfaction? Squeaky clean reputation? Happy employees? Let's not pretend that success is only bound by overclocked work culture. Too narrow.

This is the kind of thing that's about to cripple some big players. LLM's and AI needs good, hard look at sustainability and affordability - if that's even possible. But then I don't have faith in billionaires to attempt this.

An extremely timely and poignant article from Max. This might be one of his best pieces of journalism, and I think Albertans need to hear this - even if it's hard to digest for some. One of the best journalists in Canada today. You don't want to miss this one. #canada #alberta #yyc #yeg

This is what blows my mind. It seems only the extreme right-wing who have fell out from the grapefruit-in-chief are saying anything with any sense to address this madness. And unfortunately maybe that's a reflection of the current media landscape we're in too.

Perfect, thank you for the clarification! I am looking forward to the public release of Gander Social. But much like any other app, it's all getting the people you want to be there on the same platform as much as finding new ones. I'm trying to pry pry family off of WhatsApp and move to Signal 🥵

Prediction markets scare me the most. If it gets popular and lucrative enough (and its getting there fast) people are going to 'force' events that seem unlikely, including nothing short of economic chaos, political violence and misinformation-driven false flags. This needs to be reined in. HARD.

I'd like to think reasonable governments would come out and say this roller coaster of commodity prices is still dangerous and unsustainable and not a smart long term method for funding provincial coffers. I'm probably going to be waiting a while.
