Today, I looked up numbers on my laptop, wrote them with pencil on paper, found my calculator & did math, then put said numbers into a spreadsheet and ran calculations. I ended up with three different answers. Health insurance is a giant scam.

If you're a tea drinker, buy tea here. You won't regret it. If you're not a tea drinker, buy your tea drinker friends tea here. In my household, we've been trying to make a few more local swaps -- less mega grocery, more investing in our neighborhoods. So tea is a big one for us, and zero regrets.

When does the amount of tea I drink become an actual problem? Took a work break (at home today). Made two cups of tea, a jar of hibiscus tea for later (I like to mix it with my decaf black), a pitcher out on the porch for sun tea, and a 2nd steeping of hibiscus with a black Chinese tea. #TeaIsLife

Today was a lot, back to work after a month. So, cats
A black-and-cow cat sleeps against a wedge pillow, being snuggled by a much larger white and tabby cat who has thrown his arm across her. They are on a very colorful duvet.

I'm clearing out a box of papers. I am loving the cryptic notes I'm finding, both tiny pieces of paper and also just random shite at the end of spiral notebooks. Ex: under the header "Look Up": *Pushkar festival -- India, Rajastan *PEPPER -- bell vs spices? *Pontius Pilate -- Sevilla

This is not the Sound Transit Board Meeting I wanted to miss being in person for -- after 5 years of working on ST3 for South Downtown. These system decisions are so important! But, damnit, so is my health, I guess. Thanks, COVID, for more virtual access to public meetings.

I am planning a thing for work. I am, with the 'tism and adoptee perfectionism thing, a really good planner. It's in my job title. But I don't normally plan PEOPLE based things, where I have to wrangle PEOPLE for three days, and it is stressing me the FRAK out. It's also a three year project.🥚

Turnip is a large white and tabby cat. He's flopped onto his side, one back leg hurting out,, his head tucked under, and a paw over his eyes. On an unmade bed.

I wait for the streetcar near an elementary school playground. Just saw a teacher run by with a group of kids. My mom's second career was a 4th grade teacher who LOVED recess -- and her students loved her for it. I don't have a point. Just a fond memory & an appreciation for outdoor breaks.

Starting last autumn we also saw student debt reduction offered in exchange for joining ICE. A country that provided these freedoms to everybody - actual affordable housing and free higher education - would’ve already removed the economic incentive to participate in a modern day slave patrol.

Among other things, this past year has ruined superlatives for me. They are meaningless. The number of times I've said "that is the dumbest thing...", "that is the stupidest idea...." EST has ceased to have any meaning other than a time zone for the part of the year.

It's actually incredibly wild to be talking about the second tunnel outside of the context of other cost savings measures for Ballard Link, which Sound Transit's capital team is actively working on. The process around this discussion just plain stinks.

Decades ago, my parents moved us from a walkable school neighborhood in the midwest to a sprawling suburb in the southeast. I'm still mad about never getting to bike to school -- we walked, but you had to be in 5th grade to bike, and we moved first. It was the sign of being a Big Kid that I missed.

Two of the bus stops at 12th and Jackson in Little Saigon, Seattle are closed again, through March according to KC Metro. We did this last year -- as a "last resort." 2 people on my bus yesterday said it was so cops could more easily harass the people who spend time there. They might be right?
