Legend has it that those who favorite/like this picture will be visited by the Candy Witch on Halloween. Image by Emmy Cicierega.

A woman in a purple dress and witches’ hat with long brown hair sits side saddle on a flying broom. She uses a wooden wand to cast a spell that causes a shower of Halloween candy to appear from small explosion in air. She has a gentle but knowing smile on her face and to her immediate left is a white owl perched on her broom who appears to be startled. The image seems to radiate magic.

Necromancy is today the dark art of raising the dead, and while that has always been true, prior to the Enlightenment necromancy was a specific type of raising: raising spirits or the bodies they were bound to in order to speak with the dead. #WyrdWednesday 🖼: S. Rosa

Salvator Rosa's depiction of the Witch of Endor summoning Samuel's spirit; Saul and his sons cower on the floor, while the old woman, strangely nude except for her half-worn wind-swept toga, rubs some herbs while Samuel looks judgmentally at Saul. Demons surround her in the wind, looking like animal skulls and birds.

Necromancy is fairly common practice in Nordic myth and folklore, at times involving völva like Gróa, offering her expertise to her son Svipdag should he ever need it, even after her death. Moms: not even death can stop their love. #WyrdWednesday 🖼️: W.G. Collingwood

W.G. Collingwood's depiction of Svipdag listening to his mother Groa giving prophecy and he listens intently; she looks intently as fire rises and smoke surrounds her. All in classy black and white.

The Candy Witch has been reported to be delivering baked goods to the inhabitants of Greenfield. She has supposedly channeled her sadness over the lose of her cult into baking and as result has provided the town with enough pumpkin flavored treats to last through the rest of October.

Stole this from the comments because this shit shouldn't be behind a paywall.

Crucially, the GLOVE has limitations, chief among them that for the device to work effectively and deliver its restraining pain shock, it must come into contact with the subject's bare skin. According to Compliant Technologies, the gloves won't work through dry clothing or thick hair. The gloves will work, however, if the subject is wearing thin, wet clothing, such as soaked T-shirts or blouses. The GLOVE also does not like being dunked in water and will likely be rendered inoperable if this happens.

For everyone across the bridge

Part 1 of a mastodon post by Connar Green that reads. Me: (turning off the tv)…Lads, we need to have a talk.
Cult of the Candy witch: (instinctively point at one another)
Me: Stop that! No one is in trouble! This is about you finishing your education and going off to university, now there is a rumor going around that the Candy Witch is going to be at your graduation.
Evan: Really!?
Me: Yes Really, now, you know that she is proud of you lot and everything you have accomplished and she is happy for you, but the thought of you leaving for university is going to break her heart.
Michael:…The Candy Witch is going to cry?
Me: The Candy Witch is going to cry, a lot, and it’s going to take months to put her back together.
Shawn: What if we don’t go to university, will that fix it?
Me: No lad that will make things worse, this kind of pain is just part of shepherding a group of kids through the secret world. It’s going to hit her hard because you’re her first set. So, what I want each of you to do is make a gift for her, so that she has something to remember you by.
Anna: Are you giving us a quest on behalf of the Candy Witch?
Me: This is not a quest.
Evan: This sounds like a quest.
Me: THIS IS NOT A QUEST! You just need to make her something nice.

Part 2 of a mastodon post by Connar Green that reads. Me: (turning off the tv)…Lads, we need to have a talk.
Shawn: Can it be a portrait?
Me: Yes. Provided there is no nudity, no anime titties, no monster titties, no goth titties, or Frazetta titties (or asses).
Shawn: Doc, that’s like my entire artistic repertoire.
Me: If you need help, get at least two non-magical women (not Evan’s mom!) to evaluate your work for appropriateness before giving it to the Candy Witch. I am begging you lad, please do not make this weird.
Evan:…Hey doc, you said that we are the Candy Witch’s first batch of supernatural adjacent kids, right?
Me: Right.
Evan: So...what number are we for you?
Me: *thinking* Depending on how I count the Mystery Inc kids, you are either 13 or 17.
Evan: Wow...is this what dogs feel like when they learn that there were other dogs before them?
Me: *Sighs*
