What is going on with this chart? Why is it smoothed? Mexico alone looks to have dropped by 8M+, Canada by ~6, UK by ~2 – none of the data, axes, and description seem to fit together.

#20YearsAgoToday, I shot this clip of Harvey Danger at the Rathskeller in Madison. What a show! Several songs from the end, Sean Nelson's voice gave out and they brought people up to sing in his place. The set had been great, but turning into a party for Harvey Danger dorks made it something bigger.

Can't believe a guy desperate to play second fiddle to a juiceless weirdo two years in advance could get something so wrong.

This is a great piece of writing about knowing and loving the character of a place. I already thought Fremantle and Milwaukee were long-lost siblings, but this specifically brings to mind the parade the city held for the Brewers after they lost the 82 World Series. Helpful to read after a brutal GF.

He threw one of the best games ever in June and just finished one of the best seasons ever looking just as sharp. Best batting average against ever. Third best WHIP ever. I don't know if Jacob Misiorowski can go out and just win 11 postseason games by himself, but it's worth trying.

Premiered Getting There tonight – a bunch of people in South Florida had no idea they were seeing footage of where the party will be tonight in Fremantle. Notifications going off until late morning tomorrow; Dockers, please do the thing. #AFL

While it is true that expensive gas isn't really the thing (he's been on a consistent downward trajectory for a year and a half), what really speaks poorly about as a country is that he was allowed to leave the White House without handcuffs in 2021 and get his name put back on ballots in 2024.

EP release! With the Freo Dockers in the #AFL Grand Final tomorrow and my documentary premiering tonight, it's a good day to put out the last single from Appetites. "Shai's Theme" is backed by six tracks from the soundtrack to Getting There, including a brief interpretation of Bon Iver's "Perth."

I'm seeing a lot of the Donalds ad examined here, which makes claims about Jolly's "hurricane tax" based on a study about a difference proposal from two years ago. And even then, it's incredibly weak in light of Floridians' actual experience with the home insurance market. Jolly might pull this off.

It's great this is getting big front page coverage, but what is going on with that art choice? Bascom Hill is the state's most recognizable "university" setting, but if it has to be Milwaukee-area, surely UWM or Marquette have a spot that indicates the same thing.

#20YearsAgoToday, I shot this clip of Jail at River Horse in Milwaukee. This set came up last minute as part of Center Street Days, but rain forced us all into the cramped bar space. Jail was in transition here, a couple years from hitting their Sub Pop stride but quickly rising in the local scene.

Does the project involve any work that could be interpreted as promoting DEIA, climate change research, or non-compliant to any Presidential Executive Orders?

#20YearsAgoToday, I shot this clip of Mates of State at the Orpheum in Madison. This was a great bill with the band at their peak, commanding the stage in a decent size, sold out venue. I haven't seen them since then, but they were a hugely important early-to-mid 00s band for me.

We were pretty surprised to find such a clear relationship between primary vote margins and the House popular vote stretching across decades with such different political environments. But there's some years where one zigs and the other zags. What happened there? We'll start with 1966.

This is a very recognisable depiction of various political subcultures and we all know it. I am Pessimistic about our ability to persuade people not to do this, but I am also baffled by the fact that so many people in fact want to do this. Some sort of instinct to small-group meanness is common!

#20YearsAgoToday, I shot this clip of System and Station at the High Noon Saloon in Madison. They were local alt rock vets who made one of the top records of 2006, a riff-heavy album that could've blown up in 1993. After soon decamping to Portland, they split and partially reformed as Last Giant.

In addition to other terrible things, South Florida may be the nation's strongest holdout for NIMBY politics. Here in Boca, the city just revolted over a big development proposal. In Palm Beach County, this is the *good* candidate in my county commission district:
• Address irresponsible overdevelopment and its impact on our roads, schools, and infrastructure.

• Protect affordability so our children and grandchildren can continue to call Palm Beach County home.

This is of a piece with the people who excoriated Biden for not doing anything about student debt relief. There is a population of Americans who claim to be on the left who, for whatever reason, refuse to take "yes" for an answer or to even believe that the answer has been given.
