I couldn't agree more, and recent narrative games like Disco Elysium and Pentiment have shown a similarly vast cast of rounded characters, set in paradigm-shifting times and fraught societal environments.

My new book, co-authored with Alice Bell, is now in production: Reading Digital Fiction synthesizes our year-long qualitative, empirical research into readers of digital fiction, featuring key experiences like immersion, empathy and multisequential agency and inducing a theory of medial reading.
