Windows is absolute garbage now, but at least you can switch. Linux distros are becoming more popular and more accessible everyday - especially now that most people really only use their browser. I'd love to see more custom ROMs for phones, easier ways to install them, and more phones supporting it

Truly If people had this little choice over what happens with their laptops and desktops it would be dystopian, they'd be furious! Locked bootloaders, even on carrier "unlocked" phones. All the major manufacturers have Android skins full of tracking, telemetry, and apps that you cannot uninstall.

YES! I would absolutely love that, electric vans seem like such a cool platform. The brightdrop especially is my favorite of the current options, at least on paper... can't quite swing the price... I'm hoping for a used one in a few years.

No matter how your life turned out after these core memories we re-visit, processing these events, these micro-traumas It is a grief cycle and it’s where the healing lives Being able to go back to our former selves & tell ourselves - this isn’t your fault. You’re not broken. You’re Autistic.

Panel 11: Audrey's head happily pops out of the water, sending little droplets flying and reflecting the moonlight. "This was something aquatic," Val narrates, "Gentle. Curious. Unhurt."

Panel 12: Audrey's eyes sparkle as he notices a rubber duck floating around in the pool with him. It has round glasses, making it look kinda like Val. "Or maybe not unhurt," Val continues narrating, "but..."

Panel 13: Audrey picks up the rubber duck, smiling and inspecting it curiously.

Panel 14: Audrey holds up the rubber duck above his head so that Val can see it, big smile beaming. Behind him is an almost magical, chromatic sky filled with red, yellow, green, and blue stars, galaxies, and a huge moon. All of these elements are also reflected in the rippling pool, making it look like a paint-filled art easel. "Not defined by hurt," thinks Val.

It's not that features are bad or that technology or circuitry is inherently unreliable - instead it is simply that it is built as CHEAPLY as possible, DESIGNED to FAIL predictably, and to be JUUUST UNFIXABLE ENOUGH that you feel unjustified spending the money to fix it instead of buying a new one.

They know this particular plastic part will break in 3 years, so they design the entire machine around this single plastic part. They put it inside of a sealed mechanism that cannot be serviced and must be replaced. Replacing it costs over half of the whole machine's value. Two year warranty.

Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
There are good and bad ways of implementing any feature. We have great options for non-contact sensors. We have great options for waterproofing. We can make circuits that will outlive you. We can make it reliable and repairable. Manufacturers choose not to, intentionally, to make more money.

Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
For instance, I think newer machines do load balancing quite well. They use sensors to detect when the clothes are unevenly distributed and will rotate a bit to balance before the spin cycle. This reduces vibrations and reduces wear on components as a result. It also helps with overall efficiency.

Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
I don't care as much about fewer functions as I care about making sure the features we have are rock solid. Reliability first. Things don't go wrong nearly as often if you simply design them well. Some features and functions are genuinely beneficial and can even improve the longevity of the machine

The only connections a washing machine needs are water, power, and drain. I shouldn't ever NEED to replace it. If you want me to upgrade and give you more money for a new machine, try actually innovating. I don't need an app that sells my data, I just need clean clothes.

the only requirement to being a women is calling yourself one #woman #feminism #women
An image with 7 different images of women on it. The title says "you don't need to.... to be a women" The first has light brown skin, pants, and a t-shirt sitting down, and has the text "shave" and "like pink" around them. The next says "Be Sensitive" and "have breasts" and has an image with a person with one breast and light skin standing up with their arms over their head. The next is a person with light brown skin laying down on the ground in a pink bra and socks with the text "Have maternal instincts" and "smile all the time". The next is a darker skinned woman walking with a bra and panties with the text "dress a certain way" and "have a high or low sex drive". The next is a white woman laying down in a swimsuit with the text "find a certain gender attractive. The next is a white woman sitting on the ground with hairy legs and a crop top with the text "hold your farts in" and "wear makeup". The last is a tan woman in a skirt and bra with the text "menstruate"

A tweet by Your Friendly Butch Anarchist @butchAnarchy that says "Have you deconstructed you capitalistic relationship with your body? Or do you still just use it like an object, care for it only as a means to extract value from it, and abuse it when it doesn't conform to your standards of production?"

Did you know that September is SüicÏdē Prevention Month, & Autistic people are more likely to take a “self exit” from this life (because of how society doesn’t meet our needs & treats us)? Also, masking can have an impact. Now you know.

Acceptance plays a huge role in that. Having an unaccepting family can double or quadruple the risk. Even just having one accepting adult in a child's life can make a huge difference. You are not alone, things can get better, even if it feels hopeless now, trust me - I've been there, more than once

Oh no! Not at all <3 Sorry, I could've communicated that better I agree that it sucks all around, I feel for everyone here, it's really upsetting that this clearly a beloved franchise (and one of my previous-favorites) has been diminished and overshadowed by the poor choices of a single person D;
020
Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
I also understand wanting to be kind when given a gift, not supporting the franchise doesn't mean you should respond with disgust or hostility. You can be thankful and still use the moment for education. If you feel it still has a place in your life, maybe next time it could be bought secondhand?

A lot of the cast has spoken out against her views and expressed their own support for trans rights. I'd like to think they would gladly trade their small share of the pie in exchange for the greater good. Many of them also went on to play other roles, so you can easily support them in other ways.

Sometimes reality hurts us, the truth can be blinding, and it can even make us look bad in retrospect. That's the great thing about time, we are allowed to change, we can choose to move on, and we are all capable of letting go of that which no longer serves us - even if we once loved it dearly.
021
Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
invested now. You liked the books, you shared them with others, your kids read them and just want to love the fantasy world you showed them, you don't feel ready to face the harsh reality of the situation So, you double-down, discredit any opposition, and turn a blind eye to the harm you're causing

Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
Think of the algorithm, pushing you towards ideas and concepts in the name of maintaining your attention. You follow an author you liked, you read of her narrow perspective of the world, perhaps some of it feels true, and she wrote "good books" so she must be right, right? Plus, you're already-

Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
Think of the unaware kid seeing a HP tiktok video, now going out and buying the books or movies, maybe they go to HP world - those royalties go to the author, who uses that very same money to promote her radical ideas, ultimately leading to the harm and death of many trans people.
131
Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
Even if you think you can "separate the author from the work" in YOUR mind, that won't change the effect it ultimately has on others. Not everyone knows about the bad - they will just see a thing they like, and then follow it to either the author's toxicity and/or to financially contributing to it.
131
Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
I simply can't because I know all that money, that time, that attention - it all directly or indirectly goes towards supporting the notoriety of the author, the spreading of her toxic ideology, and her promotion and funding of many harmful campaigns against trans and gender-diverse people.
131
Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
I do see it through a new lens now, some of the elements of the books are... troubling, to say the least. Growing up gives us new perspective, rejecting that does us a disservice. I can still like it for what it meant to me, but I'd never ever give the IP a platform nor a single cent of my money.
131
Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
Trust me, I know, it sucks. It brought me joy. I still think of references and funny things about it, I loved the fan content (like HP puppet pals lol), and in a way it will always hold a special place in my heart. But protecting trans people, especially trans kids, is WAY more important to me.
141
Aspen Tree Wolf @aspenwolf23.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
Good riddance! I'm autistic, trans, and was a huge fan of HP. Even with undiagnosed ADHD I read the entire book series at least 10 times, I memorized spells, made my own wands, got to see some of the movies as they premiered in theaters, and even visited HP world. Still, I gave it all up.
