If you care about science, please comment on the proposed OMB rule by Monday July 13 arstechnica.com/science/2026... ! This isn't just shouting into the void, substantive comments help with future court challenges, can help the worst parts be retracted, and can move Congress to act.

Editorial: It's time to step up and have your say for science
Your comments on a dangerous rule putting politicals in charge of science can matter.

It’s truly astonishing to see how comprehensively the US government is tearing down every part of the system that has made it up until now a world-leading power in science, research, and technological development. The entire world will suffer from this wanton destruction.

Big news: we are setting up a new non-profit organization to run bioRxiv and medRxiv. It's called openRxiv [no it's not a new preprint server; it's dedicated organization to oversee the servers] openrxiv.org 1/n

NIH/NIAID/NIGMS research, training, *and* equipment grants made possible the first two atomic-resolution structures of coronavirus spike proteins, all the way back in 2016. But sure, tell us NIH-funded research isn't high-impact.

More from inside NIH: Per a source with knowledge, for all internal research (of which there is like $10 billion worth or so), ALL purchasing shut down as of yesterday. That means gloves, reagents, anything involved with lab work, which means a lot of that work will stop.
