We all know that mentoring already happens in an unofficial way for many in the library and information world. The AIM Network was designed to put in place a formal structure, with well-established training and supports, to encourage experienced librarians and library assistants to become mentors. This is a cross-border initiative which arose out of two pilot mentoring programmes run independently by CILIP Ireland and the Health Sciences Libraries Group of the LAI. The two pilots are merging and mentoring will now be available to LAI and CILIP members in all sectors across the island of Ireland.
