Purdue to the rescue of IU student newspaper, whose institution was attempting censorship. Details in alt!

I'm sure many of you have heard by now that earlier this week, IU k*lled the print edition of its student paper, the IDS. The issue that was supposed to print this week contained criticism of the Whitten regime and IUs further slide into scist control, and they couldn't allow that to happen during Homecoming, when all the rich alumni are in town.
Enter Purdue! The Purdue student paper, The Exponent, owns its own presses. Yesterday, in an act of tremendous solidarity with their biggest rival school, they printed the forbidden issue of the IDS. They then drove it to Bloomington overnight and stocked all of the IDS boxes on campus, just in time for Homecoming.
Solidarity is what makes us stronger, and solidarity will be what ultimately allows us to triumph, if we can ever truly get it together. I hope everyone has a fun, safe day if they're going out today, and I hope we can think about what acts of solidarity we can begin taking to really make this movement MOVE - beyond a permitted expression of upset into more active resistance.

People who say things like "we achieved racial equality through MLK doing peaceful protests" tend to ignore three major facts: 1. We never achieved racial equality. 2. There were literally hundreds of violent race riots in the 60s. 3. They killed MLK. They fucking shot that dude anyway. Come on.

Indiana SB2 would cap medicaid recipients at 500,0000 (currently 680,000 enrollees) “Do we want to cut education to not have waitlists?” Mishler said. “Those are the decisions we’re faced with.” A quick 🧵 on why this is disingenuous #HoosierSky 1/ www.wfyi.org/news/article...

Charters claim they need the same resources as public schools, perhaps they should look inwards first: “the CEOs of charter schools within IPS boundaries – leaving out any who do double-duty as principals — made over $4 million” #Hoosiersky #HB1136 www.indystar.com/story/opinio...

Look at vouchers, not IPS, for money to share with charter schools | Letters
School vouchers cost Indiana taxpayers $439 million last year, mostly going to families who could already afford private school tuition.

This is a real insurance rejection letter that was sent to a 2-day-old baby (shared with permission):
Baby Boy, we've reviewed your request An experienced healthcare professional has reviewed the request for care that you or your doctor recently sent us.
Your request is important and personal to you and to us. Our decisions affect you. Because of that, our review included more than clinical guidelines and scientific data alone. Information about your health and your health plan were a part of it, too.
Results of the review
Our review showed that the care you've requested is Not Medically Necessary. We can't approve your request because your plan doesn't cover care that is Not Medically Necessary.
Details from the review (consider discussing with your doctor)
The request tells us your doctor wants to care for you in an intensive care nursery (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or
NICU). The plan clinical criteria considers care in this nursery medically necessary when a baby is born very early (less than 35 weeks gestation) or other severe problems exist. These might include low blood pressure, trouble eating, or slow heart rate. The information we have does not show you have these or other severe
problems. For this reason, the request for NICU care is denied as not medically necessary. It may help your doctor to know that we reviewed this request using the health plan clinical guideline called Neonatal Levels of Care (CG-MED-26).
You have the right to appeal
You can appeal our decision if you or your doctor disagree with it. Please read the Rights Available to Members guide we've included with this letter. It explains your options, tells you how much time you have to appeal, and lists the information you'll need to send us.
- Your Care Management team

"Organize!" became a bit of the reflexive answer since 2016. Not wrong, but a lot of it was: - list building/mobilizing, not organizing - not built for the long term - too activist focused, not aimed to grow the choir - too issue hyper focused - too fragmented across issues
