Seriously, any two-bit organisation can do a strategy process. What matters is depth of thinking & willingness to confront difficult trade-offs. These are questions of political leadership not reading blueprints from Mazzucato's 5-year-old book that had literally no effect on the election result

The inactivity rate for people aged 16 to 64 in July 2025 was 21%, lower than at any point before Nov 2018. Since 1971, there has been only one 15-month period – Dec 2018 to Feb 2020 – when inactivity was lower than today.

I think we can safely stop listening to the whinging from private schools about the terrible effects of VAT on private school fees: pupil numbers down 1.7% in the context of declining numbers of children in that age range does not make a policy apocalypse
