Thank you @astronerdika.bsky.social and @rami.spaceaustralia.com for making #NeutronStarWeek happen! Everyone loves GW170817, so I spent the last three years of my PhD giving a lot of attention to GW190425 by studying which formation channel is most likely to form heavy GW190425-like DNSs!

Dr. Simon Stevenson's exciting talk on 'Formation of merging binary blackholes from massive binary stars' using a rapid binart population synthesis code COMPAS! He is one of the coolest and kindest PhD. supervisors someone could ask for! @simon-stevenson.bsky.social #GR24 #Amaldi16

Meet the newest member - GW231123. An amazing talk by Amanda Farah on the observed population of compact binary mergers. Cool graphics by Simona Miller.

Favorite plots from the day, which were presented by Prof. Yuta Michimura. The plots summarized some key points on the technique for minimizing noise for different parts of the power spectrum.l, sensitivity evolution of LVK, and all the cool science that can be done by next gen detectors!

Sharing a basic introduction to the literature of my field Binary Neutron star papers (created with observablehq.com/@guillaume-l...) It's been an intense year of reading BNS papers, and modeling them - had to make this.

Some #astronomy feed statistics: Last week saw about twice as much activity on the feed - twice as many posts, from twice as many users!
A plot of the number of astronomy feed posts per week since the middle of 2023. It has held steady-ish around 400 posts/week, climbing recently to 600, and then last week jumping to 1200!A plot of the number of unique astronomy feed post authors per week since mid 2023. Last week, it jumped from around 150 to around 300.

People who study relativity like to "conformally compactify" spacetime, creating a finite patch of coordinates, and attaching a boundary. This makes it possible to talk about going to "infinity" more precisely. This turns Minkowski space into what they call a "diamond". 🧪⚛️ #🧮
