This interview is beyond special because it's someone with a deep knowledge of the series, a life long game designer who understand game development, asking the questions. So you're getting one of the best pictures ever of how development actually functioned between Japan and the US for OoT

Seeing all these TGS posts makes me wish I'd gone to TGS this year. Pondering how to pull it off for next year.

Binging Dropout at 1:30 in the AM is the modern equivalent of having Comedy Central on the TV set in the 90s when your parents would very much like for you to be sleeping.

Final hours in Seattle. Had a great time at #PAXWest2026 and checking out some local and touristy spots. It's interesting how different the vibe is from New York. Also, it seems like Jimothy is a whole religion here.

Finally found a grocery store that carries the oat milk I like and had a cup of chocolate milk for the first time in almost a year. Can't overstate how much simple pleasures can improve a day.

It's weird to think of Rhythm Heaven Groove as one of the final Switch games. The Switch 2 really doesn't feel like much of a change to me. I think back to all the different Nintendo systems and they all felt like brand new experiences after the ones before them.

Having a great time with Rhythm Heaven Groove. Seriously fantastic. Having only played the DS and Wii entries, there are a bunch of references I'm only familiar with due to YouTube, but they are all delightful.

Just finished the fifth chapter of Deltarune. I think what I love most about this game is how it captures a very specific feeling of nostalgia. Not just "hey, remember X?" but evocative of an entire generation growing up with and alongside video games. Particular moments and a lifetime of memories.

Picked up a Twin Famicom at a Book-Off in Hiroshima last week. Sadly, the stack of games I got with it mostly don't work, but I am enjoying Yume Kojo Doki Doki Panic just fine.

If you're in Japan, and you see an official doing something that surprises, impresses, or delights you, before you cement in your mind that "they do X over there," consider this: Is it really something done nationwide, or is it possibly something exclusive to the incredibly touristy areas?

I've had a promotional VHS for the test animation that became Batman: The Animated Series for a long time, I bought it on eBay in like...1999? The version they put as a bonus on the DVD said they lost the audio but uh, here it is. You're welcome Bruce Timm.

Back in the old Nintendo Enthusiast days, I wrote a feature about Chrono Trigger. Honestly, the piece wasn't very good, and I always wanted to come back to it for its thirtieth anniversary. And again, that didn't happen. I guess that's the nature of time. Maybe one day.
