Space penguin. This is Arp 142, two interacting galaxies NGC 2936 and NGC 2937. Processed by c.claude. www.flickr.com/photos/27527... 🔭 🧪
The James Webb Space Telescope's Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) captured this striking image of Arp 142, a pair of interacting galaxies. Their close encounter has distorted their shapes and triggered a burst of star formation. A bridge of gas and dust stretches between the two galaxies, showcasing the violent and dynamic nature of galactic interactions.

One annoying thing about historical research is looking up how long it took to get from A to B in the US by train in 1880 and then looking it up now and realizing it was faster in 1880.
