New in Law & Society Review: Neoliberalism in Law and Society: doi.org/10.1017/lsr.... I show that neoliberalism is used with a lack of counterfactual imagination and as a ubiquitous cause in sociolegal work. That is a problem. Why?

Haven't read @ashleytrubin.bsky.social's article yet, but disagree with her at least 70% here. I do think there is a problem with sociologists confusing politics for theory (and thus above scientific critique), but I don't think they shouldn't do politics, and radicals don't cause authoritarianism

Something I don't think I say in any of my advice, bc it's more aimed at established/senior scholars: if you're meeting a junior scholar for coffee, you buy their coffee. I'm always surprised to hear when folks don't do this. I don't care if the jr person asked for the meeting. We treat them.

Remains a bizarre complaint among some corners that they aren’t paid for this labor and won’t do it much or at all. Put the big kid pants in and serve the community you benefit greatly from. If only to pay it forward for junior people who don’t have the privilege f saying no as frequently.
