This KickStarter is probably going to fail, but if more people knew about it, then it could reach its funding goal. Check out H. P. Lovecraft: When the Stars Are Right by Seán Martin on @kickstarter.com www.kickstarter.com/projects/lov...

Been there, typographic hell when travel agent kept rejecting the layout of a brochure for micro-typographical differences. I was brought in as a consultant, and figured out WTF the problem was, came up with a solution, which was then roundly ignored by the agency who contracted me. Fun times /S

A post on my blog narrating my sojourn in Nihon, and some mecha acquisitions made along the way. More to follow, it's just taking me longer to sort through the pictures and write about my experience. panther6actual.blogspot.com/2026/10/back...

Guardian quote: "Historians and geographers have said for years that the Mercator projection is rooted in western stereotypes. Activists have echoed this, with some coining the term “cartographic colonialism”. I weep at what passes for journalism today from a supposed high end news publication.

All maps are a compromise, because the world is spherical and maps are flat. It's just a matter of what is the map being used for. Besides, maps are not the territory.

This is interesting. The bit about what happens to AI critics within corporate structures is depressing. Imagine "The Emperor's New Clothes" except when the little boy calls out "The Emperor has no clothes!" he's immediately thrown into an oubliette. www.thenerve.news/p/cory-docto...

Okay, caveat I've yet to watch Fire & Ash, otherwise these two would be the obvious choices. Sinners is outstanding, and Ballerina is a lot of fun.

I agree, with a caveat. Dracula can change into mist, bats etc, so the shot discombobulates him, and he make take a considerable period of time to form back into a physical form. Of course that's stupid, but Dracula is magic, and magic doesn't have to obey the laws of physics as we understand them.

Yeah, it's a metric, but not a very useful one for a prolific older reader, because as you say, not every author has written 20 books.

His extensive research, doesn't make his interpretation less debatable. If anything, it illuminates his apriori assumptions. I don't being a comic makes it less worthy work than a book or a film. It's just that it's work of art, not an interrogation of the sources with references, and bibliography.

Ashley R Pollard @ashleyrpollard.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

For definitions of realistic that are flexible. It's a comic when all said and done. And yes, I own copies, but some of the takes are ahistorical.

Heavy Gear and Jovian Chronicles had some of the best mecha art in the late 90s and 2000s and really nails the perfect middle point between Gundam and Battletech. I hate that I could never get a group together to play either back when I started getting into RPGs
