This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects. Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it. apnews.com/article/open...

Most of the time there are about 6 or more plates with side dishes and side salads ready to go, hot food in holding, preparing a new dish is quicker and easier than arguing, have to agree here

Kotlin by making our work lighter, lighted the load, ie. do more with less, make it harder to make mistakes. AI goes faster perhaps, but usually in the wrong direction, making it easier to make mistakes, raising the cost of verification, I don't really feel it's that much of a win

Nuclear isn't great, but it's much better than lignite, which Germany absurdly prefers, the Greens went blind mad on this pushing for total abolishment of nuclear power plants

Best case scenario is the new government Saxon-Anhalt is incapable of forming a functioning government, the most likely scenario is that they join the other right wing governments taking power, this isn't going to be like WWII, WWIII will be fascism vs China, personally I'm rooting for China.

Before Brexit I could vote for local parties, I usually voted Grün, but their blind abstention towards nuclear power has made sure I'll never vote for them again, you know... when I eventually hear back from the Eingbürgerungsamt....

Hieronymus Bosch's 'The Conjuror,' a painting depicting a medieval con artist playing a shell game for an audience of astonished peasant rubes. The image has been altered: the conman now has Jeff Bezos's grinning head, and the mouths of all the peasants have been replaced with inverted Amazon 'Smile' logos, so they are now frowning.

One of the most disillusioning aspects of the AI boom has been the total abandonment of predictability, so much weight had been placed on the reliability of builds, predictability and idempotency of operations. But no, fuck that, lets go for hallucinations and randomness 🤷‍♂️

Ultimately, I enjoy coding, I want to code, I enjoy problem solving, the knowledge building through community involvement I've been lucky to be a part of being compared to tokens, is just kinda depressing.

I think the largest part of this is about job fulfilment, sure a machine might be able to produce something near the same quality overall. Arguments can be made for better or worse code from either party (if one could call an AI a "party").

Ash Davies 🇩🇪 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 @ashdavies.dev · 15/08/2026
Ironically, hallucination is not something exclusive to AI, just more prevalent. Writing the code yourself brings you closer to the problem, understanding the product requirements better and feeling a better sense of contribution.

Ash Davies 🇩🇪 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 @ashdavies.dev · 15/08/2026
I'm not sure that was the idea, AI can create "quality" code in terms of proper thread management, and technical aspects, but it doesn't understand the problem, because it lacks the necessary critical context. When asked to justify the solution it would be more likely to hallucinate.

Mastodon post from Jake Wharton:

As of today, the Lysine projects (OkHttp, Okio, Retrofit, and the SQL Delight family) have a contribution policy that forbids LLM usage for creating code and for PR/issue descriptions and comments.
There is an exception for translation assistance provided you disclose its use.
If you choose to use LLMs locally for research, analysis, and/or experimentation we can't stop you. But for contributing we require you to write the code, and for our interactions to be with you.

``` Upon reflection, I've come to believe that quality software is not about how many features something has or how quickly it is built but rather how cared for it is by the designers, developers, and product people who work on it. ``` This rings very true brettcodes.com/im-done-using-ai
With more and more AI content being generated, more of that content is inevitably being used to train AI models. In the UK during the late 80s, cattle remains had been used to feed livestock resulting in the outbreak of BSE, or "Mad Cow Disease". It's eerily similar...
It's useful for them to exist as documented examples, but they are usually too specific to a project or team approach to be useful without giving a bias. Better would be documentation of how Gradle behaves differently when building them, plugin extensions, DSL, etc.
All this sweaty obsessing over vibe-coding is great. I don't use the stuff, never have. But now I get to put in about 40% the effort I used to. Everyone else's slowed right down, waffling on about agents or sandboxing or whatever. I'm more productive by comparison.
Two people are walking down the street when they see a billboard that says "The AI singularity is on the horizon!" One turns to the other and asks, what's a horizon? The other one answers: it's an imaginary line that moves away as quickly as you can approach it.
For me, I've always used my pet project for the fun side of coding without the tedium of commercial responsibilities and corner cutting, so I still use it to keep my sanity, but it's unreasonable to ask somebody to do that in their free time, besides for the love of doing so.
