That’s very true. Hard to beat Mastodon when it comes to academia posts. I’ve tried quite a few apps - can’t seem to settle on one. I still use the stock one. Certainly intrigued by one called ‘Toot!’ It’s a paid one - I might end up getting it if I switch to Mastodon on a more permanent basis.

I can see benefits to both. Not gonna lie, the more I use these alternatives, the more I miss Twitter from the yesteryears. I guess I might try using both BlueSky and Mastodon more frequently and then settle on one of them. I did enjoy both early on - albeit for completely different reasons.

Thank you! 😊 Love this! I tend to use social media as an escape more often than not. But then there are times - like when the pandemic was at its peak - in those instances, I don’t just like to consume information but also like to contribute to the scientific community to the best of my ability!

After reading that, I think your community here (including me) would be quite mad at you if you did. 🙈 These journals prey on others’ hard-work, they restrict science behind paywalls, and then gate-keep people and research that’s not in their interest.

Can I be added too? 🙈 I don't post science stuff as often, but when I do, I tend to go all in!

I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS! I was thinking why MedLine sounded so damn familiar - ha ha, my bad. I think anything works as long as we’re all here.

I mean, there’s no right or wrong way to address the Medical BlueSky community. As early adopters, we do have the privilege to influence and hence standardize what it might be called now and in the future - until someone coins something better? The demonym doesn’t matter as much as our presence!

Trying out @graysky.app by @mozzius.dev - looks snappy so far! Love the fact that skeets can be posted from anywhere within the app. I’d love to see the collapsible ‘post skeet’ option retain the drafted skeet - so one can work on a it while reviewing other skeets - something even Twitter lacks!

Thanks for the shoutout! The timeline here is called SkyLine (as popularized by @jay.bsky.team), so MedLine doesn’t sound too bad. 🙈 As far as the demonym goes, MedSkeeter works, since tweets are called skeets here! We could use MedLiners as it takes up fewer characters, but it’s not the standard.
