Over a decade ago, I was able to break into software engineering and game development thanks to Darío's mentorship & friendship, and now I have a career as an engineer on AAA games. Darío KNOWS his stuff and this is SUCH a refreshing and accurate take. We need to reject AI slop vibe coded garbage.

Freelance, from home, creative work and indie projects are often the only profession disabled people can pull off and I've seen everyone's work dry up because of AI. This tech is about as anti-disabled people as you can get and I'm tired of the proponents using as an excuse for its existence.

I deleted my account after the election because it was clear that continuing to be there was to continue allowing Elon Musk to have an outsized influence over public discourse, which he was blatantly using to benefit fascists. I don't understand why more people don't think this is a dealbreaker.

lol the irony of accidentally writing an "it's not just x, it's y" while talking about AI writing "it's not x, it's y" a lot. welp!! like I said if it was just one or two things I would not instantly assume it's AI.

I don't know how to articulate my intuition for why I recognize things as AI. Maybe a human would more likely write "it's a performance" or "it's performative" or add an adjective like "it's pure performance". but AI writes "it's performance". Its not that humans never do that, but AI does it a LOT.

there's a thing I frequently see in AI writing where it says "it's <noun>". for example I watched an insta video at one point where someone was criticizing corporate pride and they said something along the lines of "that's not platforming, that's performance". I don't know if there's a word for this

I've currently gotten myself into minor drama for calling out somebody who used AI to write an anti-AI post and lied about it lol. No big thing but it's got me thinking about how often I hold myself back from saying what I want to to avoid conflict.

if someone disagrees with me, cool, that's fine; I'm not here to police anyone's opinions. but if you take it personally every time someone criticizes AI, you're in for a bad time, because there is a looooot of that criticism to go around right now, and I don't see that stopping anytime soon.

Like, I think AI sucks. I'm sure there are people who are upset I said that. I'm not disregarding that... I care and don't like making people feel bad. But I don't think it's my responsibility to manage other people's emotional responses, and I shouldn't have to apologize for expressing what I feel

I don't enjoy conflict or being hurtful to anyone, but I do have opinions and I'm generally not afraid to call it like I see it if it's necessary. Is that really a bad thing? It's honest. And I think it's important to stand for my values, because I don't respect people who don't stand for theirs.

Honestly, I don't have much of a filter when it comes to speaking my mind and calling out bullshit. It tends to put me in conflict with people who don't like their bullshit being called out. I always considered it a character flaw but maybe I just need to be more okay with pissing people off 🤷

One of my biggest pet peeves recently is when I see somebody claim that they value "intention". It's one of the most obvious tells of AI writing. What the hell is "intentional" about letting an AI speak for you?
