Last night I heard a loud bike ride going by my house. I let my kids finish putting themselves to bed and hustled out the door to join it. It turned out to be the Thursday night ride There was also a lunar eclipse at the exact same time. It was epic! Portland does not disappoint

The US Navy seems way more scared about their boats than in years last, doesn't it? The Canadians don't need barbed wire fencing and I don't think the US Navy needed it in the past either. Strange. If they're going to visit like this, I wonder if it's worth it at all

Othello WA has crosswalks with no signals on a 5-Lane stroad. At each corner- at least several in a row. I'm curious why Portland doesn't allow this. Traffic does feel lighter here

Reading this statement I don't understand why the school was evacuated- it sounds like de-escalation tactics worked and since the altercation was outside the school, evacuating people into that space was actually MORE dangerous (potentially) than sheltering in place would have been.

Dear Harriet Tubman and Ockley Green communities,

We want to inform you about a situation that occurred at our annual middle school dance showcase yesterday evening.

The showcase took place at Jefferson High School. During the performance, a small group of individuals were involved in a vocal altercation outside the building. Staff and campus safety personnel immediately stepped in and worked to deescalate the situation. When the individuals exchanged threats of violence, staff called 911.

Officers from Portland Police Bureau responded, and the individuals taking part in the incident immediately left. Out of an abundance of caution, we canceled the rest of the showcase.

We know that hearing about incidents like this can raise concerns. Please know that we remain deeply committed to student and staff safety and security, which is why we acted quickly to respond to the incident.

What Happened:
Given the chaotic nature of the incident and the fact that we had to shut down the showcase abruptly, rumors have been spreading that ICE agents were on scene. This is absolutely not true. Federal agents were never involved.

Actions Taken:
The incident instigators have been trespassed from all PPS schools. This means that they are permanently banned from all PPS property. If they are ever seen on district property, we will immediately call PPB, who will follow all law enforcement protocols to ensure that they do not return. This kind of behavior is simply not tolerated in our schools.

Next Steps/Preventative Measures:
We understand that situations like this can cause anxiety and concern. If your student would like to talk to a trusted adult about this incident, please reach out to a member of our student support team.

We are actively working to address the situation in a way that upholds our community values and ensures continued safety. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out.

for example, riding 3 miles in an hour currently costs $0.35/min = $21/hr for non-members - as does riding 18 miles. If someone's on a #pedalpalooza ride they are likely unlocking the bike for 3 hours - that's an expensive trip! Having a maximum hourly rate of $10/hr would make a big difference

Turns out that @nytgames.bsky.social words about streaks don't work the was I assumed and your streak will still be broken by not playing before midnight. My biggest complaint with this is that you need Internet to play. If you go camping away from Internet your streak will still be broken
