Around 18 or 19 years ago I started to knit a scarf. Not too long after I put it down. I am finally finishing it. In 2007 I had a major mental health crisis. In 2017 I had another. May 2027 not follow that pattern. I think I will be ok. Knitting is a good start to coming back to myself.

It was too long for one post so here's a dumb dream I had

I woke up laughing this morning.

In my dream Lucy was about to park a car in a garage as I was going to unlock the front door of whatever house it was, but I was like "you might not be able to fit in there, it's full of shit"

Then I heard a big crunch.

So I run back and into the garage to see that Lucy has driven the front of the car clean through the drywall so that it fits and she turned and said "did it" and it was her expression being somewhere between proud and blank + the car in the wall that made me laugh very hard in the dream, and I woke up laughing IRL

Oh yes. For me I can read pulp SF disaster stuff with weird viruses or whatever, but if they say something like "Pertussis virus" or "measles bacteria" I am out. At least know the general classification of your death bug.

I may do a comparison on the liminal week off between xmas and new years with some small batches of sugar cookies. I find sugar cookies seem to be the most finicky things wrt flour that I make. Science!

Don't waste your money on bread flour, there are higher quality all purpose ones in canada that are cheaper than bread flour. I usually spring for Red River flour for my christmas baking. Canadian Flour is still pretty solid all around though.

For a while almost all the all purpose flour in Canada was hard grain. Not sure if it is climate change, cost, or what, but some brands are doing a soft and hard blend. Weirdly my no name flour seems to be the best recently for cheap stuff.

I am gonna make a few baking zines. One on basic ingredients, one on my successes and failures with bread (see buns that looked great but were not) and bagels, and one on my gingerbread recipe. I will probably toss them on kofi for free or pwyw. I have thoughts about flour.

They did! But the yeast was half dead so I had to toss them. They rose and then completely collapsed and ended up so dense they did noy bake properly. Sad trombone.
