Disabled people are over twice as likely to experience sexual assault than non-disabled people. In the US specifically, 2 in 5 women who experienced rape are disabled. Among US men who experienced sexual violence, 1 in 4 are disabled. Sexual violence is an issue of disability justice.

Being unemployed & leaving someone is hard, almost impossible. But trying to leave while holding down a job? I don’t know how people do it. Emergency calls with lawyers. Phone trees for food stamps. Mid-day food pantry appointments. Touring apartments in secret. That period disabled me for life.

Don’t usually share medical stuff because I am not in a position to verify if it is true - but this one caught me. I lost my aunt, the sweetest woman I ever knew, to glioblastoma in 2005. She had a hard life but was always kind. I wonder how the drug would impact those with autoimmune diseases.

My oldest went as Nimona for Halloween the year it released. Ballister’s arc is representative of how I want to grow as my kids age and change. I might not get it right at first, I might make mistakes, but I will own up to them and make it right and be there all the way. Big tears at this one.

The one lynching recorded in the county where I grew up in Michigan was because a white man refused to pay the Black Union Army Veteran working his land & accused him of threatening the white women in his house when he came to collect his pay. The town killed him & named the place Deadman’s Hill.

I endured the abuse while my children were infants & managed who was abusing me (exchanging marital abuse for parental abuse) while getting divorced and settling. As soon as I was able to get friends to help navigate social support applications I stopped accepting abusive support. It took a decade.
