And so it began in the heart of a hurricane impatient love and hate beat down everything #vss365 #hurricane #writesky #poetsofbluesky #poetrysky #photography #photoart #EastCoastkin #ECK #WCK 💙📷 me (Full text in ALT)
Hurricane

Dust swirled between us
Between you and me
and the sticky seat
of a beat up lorry

Hot breeze
whipped my tattered slip
as we rambled on
past dry rivers of emotion
tension stretched out
time and pulse beat on

I stared out of the window
out of myself, and thought
Disappointment
could break a lesser heart

Resistance
drove me away from you
Simple proof
the wind steers on its own

And so it began
in the heart of a hurricane
Impatient love and hate
beat down everything

Shallow traces of reluctance
once found on your face
must have been grief

A moment of truth passed
between you and me
on the sticky seat
of a beat up old lorry.

Xifang Temple (Moss Temple), World Cultural Heritage, Nishikyo Ward, Kyoto City., Japan Photography by Katsu
Winding gently through a thick velvet carpet of emerald moss, a sequence of flat, slate-grey stepping stones (tobi-ishi) leads the eye toward the serene depths of a woodland sanctuary. Scattered across the vivid green ground, freshly fallen maple leaves (momiji) burst in brilliant shades of crimson, maroon, and rust, forming a natural autumn tapestry beside the stone trail. The soft, dappled light filtering through the overhead canopy highlights the rich contrast between the damp moss and the fiery foliage. The photograph evokes an immersive, tranquil sensory atmosphere: the cool, humid scent of damp earth and moss rising from the forest floor, the soft hush of falling leaves, the gentle rustle of autumn air, and the quiet, rhythmic weight of footsteps treading slowly along wet river stones. Captured within the revered grounds of Saihō-ji (commonly known as Kokedera or the Moss Temple), a UNESCO World Heritage site in Kyoto’s Nishikyo Ward, this landscape exemplifies classic Zen garden architecture. Originally converted into a Rinzai Zen temple by the distinguished monk and garden designer Musō Soseki in 1339, Saihō-ji boasts over 120 varieties of moss that blanket the grove, thriving in the damp climate along the foot of Mount Matsuo. The implementation of tobi-ishi (stepping stones)—pioneered in tea garden design (roji)—was intentionally conceived to guide visitors through the space at a deliberate, contemplative pace, forcing one to look down, slow their thoughts, and engage in walking meditation. The meticulous preservation of this living landscape across centuries reflects the highest spirit of horticultural monozukuri (artisanal mastery and devotion), where temple gardeners and monks carefully tend each patch of moss and maintain the delicate ecological balance.

Wisteria tree at Ashikaga Flower Park, Japan. Photography by KotHat on photohito
Cascading like an ethereal, violet-tinted waterfall from an unseen sky, a curtain of glowing wisteria (fuji) blossoms overhead in a breathtaking nocturnal spectacle. At the base, a thick, ancient trunk twists with muscular grace, its weathered, spiral-grained wood anchoring a vast canopy-like arbor from which countless long, delicate racemes hang in dense, weeping clusters. Soft upward illumination transforms the mass of pale purple and magenta flowers into a luminous, suspended ocean of petals, casting a soft glow onto the petal-strewn earth below. The photograph evokes a dreamy, multi-sensory atmosphere: the sweet, honeyed perfume of evening blossoms heavy in the cool spring night, the faint, rustling whisper of racemes swaying in a gentle breeze, the soft hum of nocturnal garden air, and the quiet, awe-struck hush of standing beneath a ceiling of living light. Captured at Ashikaga Flower Park in Tochigi Prefecture, this magnificent specimen exemplifies the centuries-old Japanese tradition of cultivating grand wisteria arbors (fuji-dana). Cherished since the Heian period as a symbol of nobility, longevity, and refined elegance, wisteria appears throughout classical waka poetry, aristocratic clan crests (kamon), and iconic theater performances such as the kabuki dance Fujimusume ("The Wisteria Maiden"). Preserving a tree of this monumental scale—with branches extending across hundreds of square meters supported by meticulously engineered timber trellises—represents a supreme testament to horticultural monozukuri (artisanal mastery and reverence for living craft). Through generations of dedicated pruning, binding, and care, Japanese arborists have elevated landscape architecture into a living, intergenerational fine art.

Night sky in Japan
Stretching across an endless, sapphire-tinted abyss, a dense tapestry of distant stars illuminates the Japanese night sky (hoshizora), revealing the soft, cosmic ribbon of the Milky Way (Amanogawa). A feather-like plume of high-altitude clouds catches faint nocturnal light as it drifts diagonally across the sky, suspended above the dark, immovable silhouettes of mountain ridges. The scene evokes a cold, crystalline sensory atmosphere: the sharp bite of high-altitude night air, the profound, velvet silence of a remote mountain pass, the faint shimmer of starlight reflecting off dew-damp earth, and the quiet awe of standing exposed beneath an infinite, sparkling expanse.
In Japanese cultural tradition, the night sky and mountain peaks hold a sacred place, bridging the realm of earthly existence with the cosmic order. Since antiquity, the Milky Way—known as Amanogawa (the Heavenly River)—has inspired timeless folklore such as Tanabata and classical waka poetry, where poets mapped human devotion onto the movement of celestial bodies. Mountains have long been venerated through traditions like Shugendō as sacred sanctuaries where the noise of the secular world recedes, allowing ascetics and travelers to experience direct communion with the night sky.

🎨 Hanno Karlhuber "In the Red of the Night" (1985) This work belongs to Karlhuber's Energy of Space series. The Austrian painter uses oil tempera on wood to simulate a textured, alien terrain, where a large star hangs directly above the undulating ridges of a cooling planet. #art #artsky
n oil tempera painting by Hanno Karlhuber depicting the surreal, glowing surface of a distant planet under a massive sun. The landscape is filled with rows of rounded, stone-like formations that fade toward the horizon under a dark blue sky. The foreground structures are illuminated with a deep crimson and fiery red underglow, contrasting with the brilliant yellow celestial body radiating light from the top center of the canvas.

Monet rarely painted people after Camille’s death. Some critics see this as grief’s shadow; others argue his interest shifted naturally toward landscapes.
