I never expected to get rich and famous off my music, but when I was younger I certainly didn’t see coming a world where society largely decided music has no intrinsic value and should only come from people who can afford to make music without receiving any income back from music.

I’m not even 50 yet but I feel OLD. I feel disabled and so, so tired. I’m not sure if my body and mind have anything left in them BUT music. It’s terrifying to look to the decades I might have left and feel that music, the only work I feel like I have left in me, can’t support me in those years.

Every now and then (it’s… kind of often now) my body and mind do unpleasant things that leave me wondering, did I almost die last night? Doctors can’t come up with anything more helpful than “I bet your sleep sucks.” Maybe they’re right. Can’t schedule a sleep study sooner than six months away.

absolutely beautiful album. i'm not sure what more i can really say, or explain. i think it needs to be heard. stay alive. Favorite track: Warm and Near.

June has come such a long way since I first heard her stuff (way back on Beware!). This album is a departure from the genre of her previous releases, but shows off all of her strengths that she's built up over the years. It's gorgeous and honest music. Wonderful as expected. <3 Favorite track: Halo.

In a time where I felt increasingly isolated and guarded, I turned to music as a form of therapy. Framemaker holds a special place among these as a catalyst that helped me re-evaluate myself and my past, and without it I wouldnt've ever considered myself worth the effort to heal. Favorite track: Warm and Near.

Having grown up with extended family in Tennessee, memories of Dolly Parton's name, face, and voice are as old for me as the earliest memories of my own parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. I never met her, have no relation to her, but seeing her pass has the feel of losing a family member.

I wish I knew. The confident artists who charge appropriate rates keep delivering underwhelming art late or NEVER. Meanwhile, the insecure artists undercharge by a mile (I tip more to compensate), turn around AMAZING ART in DAYS OR LESS, but are afraid to take on long-term commitments.

Many of these artists might have turned down the longer term work anyway, but I see some of the same artists these days posting things like "Struggling to get commissions this month! Getting desperate!" and I'm just like... you kinda stole upwards of $1000 from me already? Sorry?

All of these commissions were paid *in advance*. Spend ranged from $200 to $1000. Most artists who missed the deadline *they themselves offered* entirely stopped communicating if I didn't keep reaching out. In the end, I never did find an artist I was comfortable offering steady, long term work.
