New Paper! w. Léa Entzmann and Árni Kristjánsson TL;DR: Endpoint deviations are determined by current target-previous distractor difference, but do not reflect the shape of the previous distractor distribution. Saccadic latencies do reflect these distributions. jov.arvojournals.org/Article.aspx...

Amplification from saliency affects explicit but not implicit ensemble representations - Attention, Perception, & Psychophysics
The visual system can encode multiple objects in the form of ensemble representations. Such representations can be accessed with either explicit or implicit reports, but depending on the type of repor...

What does our conscious perception of this set of berries consist of? If you heard about Ensemble perception, you could say: “It’s too much info for our poor attention/working memory systems, so instead of storing all the individual features, people just represent the average and variability.” 1/5

Just cancelled my #vss2025 hotel booking. It's sad that the anticipation of social and intellectual stimulation has been overshadowed by uncertainty about academic freedom, science funding in the US, and anxiety about how the next executive order might affect my travel plans #visionscience #resist

New IVL paper by Léa Entzmann et al. Feature distribution learning measured by manual and saccadic responses. Spoiler: Results essentially the same across response modalities suggesting attentional orienting - not decisional - effects of FDL. Mandatory shoutout to @achetverikov.bsky.social

How does color distribution learning affect goal-directed visuomotor behavior?
While the visual world is rich and complex, importantly, it nevertheless contains many statistical regularities. For example, environmental feature di…
