Well, I’ve finally finished another audio book this time on The Films of Studio Ghibli. (Specifically the version published around 2019 judging from where it goes up to) Also @crimsonmayhem.bsky.social consider this is a little present for you! drive.google.com/drive/folder...

Eeeeshh. Judging from the trailers and what the tone was going to be like, it seemed like the easiest film in the world to get critical praise. Of course these are just first impressions and we’ll just have to wait until people can actually see it but, man that is a disappointing first impression.

Name a must watch anime movie (I decided to not go with an obvious pick like Miyazaki or Shinkai. Plus this is the only gif of this movie I could find which goes to show how sadly unknown it is.)

That Misery origin story still stings — fans punishing a writer for stepping into fantasy. Hope more readers keep making room for genre wanderers.

I'm not surprised that some people like Diaz, LioConvoy, and their fans would think that Animat's videos on the cartoon community are basically saying ''Never critique or criticize anything, especially from a billion dollar company.'' Obviously, that's not what he's saying, but they don't care.

Stephen King was inspired to write Misery because of the massive backlash he received from fans (mostly through letters back then) after writing his first fantasy novel just cos they couldn’t handle him writing a novel in a genre other than horror. And this was literally back in the 80s.

Ruby Bridges was 6-years-old when she stepped into the history books. Bravely accompanied by her mother, she was the first Black child to desegregate an all-white school in the South. It was not long ago… Today is her birthday. She is still with us. She is 72. Happy birthday, Ruby Bridges 💜

Jim Henson would have been 90 (yup, you read that right: NINETY) years old today. You can celebrate his life by celebrating creativity, diversity, peace, imagination, and silliness.

A tuxedoed Jim Henson sits in a sea of Muppets.

Given today would have been Jim Henson’s 90th birthday, it’s given me a question for you all; Which now deceased person (celebrity, historical figure, whoever) would you have wanted to meet and chat with in real life?

Btw, this particular post didn’t age well since even though they did predict in the comments on it that Forgotten Island wouldn’t break even, Both Minions and Monsters and the Moana remake severely underperformed.

I’m starting to get sick of stylized animation in general because it always brings out the worst in everyone and nobody seems to care about these kinds of movies other than to just put down Disney and anyone else not using it. It’s only a matter of time before others start getting sick of it too.

I mean, from this trailer, it does actually look quite promising but then again, we all know about Skydance Animation’s track record and of course Brad Bird’s pr taking a huge nosedive recently for defending and working with JL. But if Bird’s still got it regardless of all that, this might-

Third time’s certainly the charm. Maybe my least favourite of them admittedly, but that’s like saying Return of the Jedi is the weakest of the og Star Wars trilogy. Still a ton of fun all the way through. Glad to see we got two great sheep movies in one year!

Close enough, welcome back Happily N’ever After and Charming. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as those films, but this really unimpressed me so far. It honestly feels like a film nearly 20 years too late back during when fairy tale spoofs were the new big thing post Shrek. youtu.be/Y0RW8EW08Dk?...

What scene makes you emotional no matter how many times you see it? 😭 I would have to go with the scene in which EVE has fixed WALL-E but at the cost of losing his personality. It really is heartbreaking in seeing this. When EVE's kiss has revived WALL-E's personality came back, I had tears of joy.

What scene makes you emotional no matter how many times you see it? 😭 This scene didn’t really affect me too much as a kid, but now, it breaks me. Especially since this is the first time in the series’ history that we had a truly serious and heartbreaking moment. youtu.be/lr5qRFrNZY4?...

Toshio Suzuki honestly doesn’t get enough credit for being essentially Miyazaki’s right hand man throughout his entire career. Looking back on the Princess Mononoke dub in general tho, in hindsight he also should have done it to Neil Gaiman too and both would have gotten some well deserved karma.

I mean, I get it does focus too much on references than plot and I wasn’t a big fan of it either, (I thought it was just okay at best), but honestly, it still could have been a LOT worse and it at least does still have some semblance of a story in it.

This film is being produced in Australia much like The Bluey movie and both seemed to be coated in that country. The difference is that Bluey had uniquely Australian people working on it even down the character designs. This is more American coded without it feeling Australian enough.

I feel like the over reliance on blur effects and exaggerated movement feel like overload here. Compare that to KPDH, Spiderverse, and Mitchels where there is blur and exaggerated movement but knows when to slow down. This is more like Johnny Test in terms of direction here.

This movie already looks really unimpressive, but I think we’re unfortunately now entering an age of films that are just trying so desperately hard to be KPDH/Spiderverse without understanding why those films worked and why that had that specific stylised animation. youtu.be/SgtgxdzWDtE?...

Kirby and the World Beyond is honestly the only thing from this Nintendo Direct that really caught my eye. I loved Forgotten Land so I’m so all down for a new 3d Kirby game! As for the updates with the Zelda movie, I know there are concerns but we’ll just have to wait and see.
