"No one, however, told me that my brain and body were also readying for fatherhood. My son was over a year old when I first came across that idea in Father Time, a book by primatologist Sarah Blaffer Hrdy." Read this fascinating BBC Future article from @arguedasortiz.bsky.social:

Really enjoyed how I'm expanding portuñol by mixing in English when I speak, in my professional role, with members from Brazil and Portugal. We write mostly in English, but they pepper in Portuguese and I do the same with Spanish.

It's frustrating because this stuff is delivered with such absolute certainty and for many of the podcast's numerous listeners it will be the definitive take on an important topic. But when you dig in, the ideas are confusing and contradictory.

An OCJN member from South Asia recently told me their outlet's attention is split between political turmoil and extreme weather. Rain and elections. Cyclones and budgets. The question of our time for media outlet will be how to *effectively* cover both climate breakdown and political unraveling.
