It would have been a remarkable achievement if they had made something that wasn’t ‘improved’ wouldn’t it? 😄

Changed days when your new work breeks come with instructions and a health warning. Wish an older head had taken me aside when I started and said ‘Dinnae be daft wearing jeans and kneeling all day with no protection. The specialist work breeks and knee pads are worth it.’

Delighted to visit @rcpsgheritage.bsky.social to see their copy of ‘Birds of America’ by John James Audubon. A remarkable book, but the real highlight was the building itself and an opportunity to ask questions of the wonderfully knowledgeable staff. Glasgow is full of wee heritage gems like this.

Architecture is important. I’m terrified for Glasgow Central Station but this is such a dangerous situation for those fighting the fire.

One of the things I love about Glasgow is the host of little museums you can stumble across. This one is in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Had no idea it was there!

Grade A listed…. Grrr. Buildings are ‘Category’ A listed in Scotland. ‘Grade’ is the term in the English system which is numerical.

Bonn boasts a wealth of museums. For my final day I did about four of them, including Bundes Kunstmuseum, Beethoven House and the Landesmuseum. The last one hosts another favourite Late Roman artefact. A 4th century dice tower! The inscription reads: "Picts defeated Enemy Destroyed Play at ease!"

Awful news about the Aberlemno 3 Pictish stone. HES surely will reconsider how these stones are preserved. Putting the box on them always felt like an anachronism. But so much of their charm will be lost if this and their setting is changed. www.scotsman.com/heritage-and...
