I know that our country is very divided right now, but I still have some hope that most Americans can at least come together around the idea of supporting biomedical research.

Indeed. Allen Roses was unable to get more funding and had to leave academia a few years after his lab made one of the biggest discoveries in the history of AD research. At least it’s a good reminder that working in academia has never been easy.
