The experimental setup also enabled the tracking of Scopoli's shearwaters using GPS technology, helping researchers better understand how human-generated disturbances influence wildlife behaviour and coastal ecosystems.

Hosted at the CNR Pianosa Research Base (BRP-CNR), AquaPLAN's field campaign brought together researchers from Università di Pisa and Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn to investigate how artificial light at night and underwater noise pollution affect marine biodiversity.

This summer, AquaPLAN carried out a large-scale field experiment to investigate how ALAN and NP affect aquatic biodiversity along the shores of Pianosa Island, part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park and one of the Mediterranean's most valuable protected ecosystems.
