i don't think either of those are genuine or authentic actually
A screenshot of the CPUID Wikipedia page. It says that the Microsoft x86-to-ARM emulator reports its ID string as "AuthenticAMD" and that Apple's Rosetta 2 reports its ID string as "GenuineIntel".

back panel and lspci pics
The back of the system I used for this (a Dell Optiplex 5040). There are 3 expansion cards inserted, from left to right: a parallel/serial port card, a PCI soundcard with a speaker output, microphone and line inputs, and a gameport, and a DVI capture card with a VGA adapter attached. To the left there are some USB ports and an Ethernet port.A picture showing the output of the "lspci" Linux command on this machine. Various internal devices (mostly from the onboard Intel chipset) are listed, but there's also notably an ESS Solo-1 soundcard, an Asix AX99100 serial/parallel controller, and a Datapath VisionRGB multimedia card.

i wrote a famicom disk system test program that attempts to read more data from disk during the initial/boot cycle it works on most emulators and an fdskey, but it keeps failing in... interesting ways on a real disk/drive (sometimes it also corrupts/blanks the screen graphics and plays sound)
A screenshot of the test program's output in the MesenCE emulator. It shows some text reading "FAIL? Nope!", with everything after the word "FAIL" rendering in a different font/palette.A picture of the aforementioned test program running on real hardware. After the "FAIL" text, a vertical strip of corrupted tiles is shown. The capital letter J and a part of the Nintendo logo text can be seen in the strip.Another picture of the aforementioned test program running on real hardware. A horizontal strip of corrupted tiles is shown after the "FAIL" text; the tiles are in the intended places, but do not contain the wanted text.

@Rairii great blogpost
Feasibility Investigation

Before figuring out how to tackle this project, I needed to know whether it would even be possible. According to a 2021 Reddit comment:

>There is a zero percent chance of this ever happening.

Feeling encouraged, I started with the basics: what hardware is in the Wii, and how does it compare to the hardware used in real Macs from the era.

after some hiccups the almalinux retest with `M_MMAP_THRESHOLD set to 131072 has finished memory usage is definitely impressive here, staying quite low and not spiking very high - but this does come at a cost of it finishing 17 seconds slower
A graph of memory usage from the image processing stresstest benchmark running on AlmaLinux, this time with the M_MMAP_THRESHOLD tunable set to a static value. Idle usage is typically within the 70-100mb range, with the highest spike being nearly 150mb.
