Many people who give birth in prison describe horrific conditions and separation from their children. But Kansas allows some women to meet with their kids and write and record lullabies for them. Listen to Krystal Lowe’s lullaby for her 2-year-old daughter Adeyson, “Wait for Me.”

By 2007, two forensic pathologists had testified that there was no evidence the victims in this case were buried alive and the original medical examiner had signed an affidavit stating he could no longer stand behind his trial testimony. But the buried alive narrative has persisted.

During the legal battle that led up to his 2007 execution, Philip Workman gave regular interviews to TV and print reporters in Tennessee. But media access to the men and women on TN’s death row has been all but eliminated since executions resumed here in 2018. nashvillebanner.com/2026/05/12/t...

In Illinois law, there are no limits on how long a person can be held in solitary confinement, violating an internationally recognized standard called the Nelson Mandela Rules. The Nelson Mandela Act would bring Illinois into compliance with the Mandela Rules by limiting the use of solitary.
