5 o'clock start to get down to the other side of Newcastle in time for a dawn hike. Cool morning turning into a beautiful clear day. Plenty of time for a lunchtime poke.

Saw Digger earlier. I'm not one for watching the whole plot of a film on trailers but the advertising for this gave little idea of the type of film it was. Not a fan of Cruise either & think the film would have had more impact with someone else playing lead. Not the worst I've seen this year 6/10.

Not here. And same car, same location, same me. Perhaps they experienced a poor claim history for similar. Companies seem to price to attract (certain) customers but then hike prices the next year, so shopping around is usually an annual occurrence. Never had such an increase quoted though.

Amazon say their data centres just use 13,000 gallons of water a day, and equate that to 42 US households. That seems too low, and bloody hell, that's a crazy amount for each US household to use each day.

The last bus arrived but the connecting bus left 2 minutes early. Standard Translink. Thankfully not to my detriment tonight but would have been to anyone arriving at the station at what they thought was the right time. A service run for the employees rather than their customers.

Yeah, I was really lucky first 10 years, and expected annual repairs to start impacting sooner and higher. You just have to expect it with older cars. It's diesel and the engine seems bulletproof.

Yeah, last year it was pads and discs (rotors), part of the front subframe, timing belt and water pump, and tie-rod ends. This year it was drop-links & ball joint. So it's a mix of normal wear and tear and ad-hoc repairs.

My car is into its teens and started to run into repair bills the last couple of years in the run up to MOT. £525 this time, though that included a service and a tyre. Suspension rattles thankfully now gone. Trying to keep it going for as long as possible. Insurance due next...

It's the cleanest but the means of payment is secondary, first they need to agree numbers. Depending on prevailing interest rates UK might prefer to fund it from a one-off gilt issuance or a series of smaller ones over a longer term. And how it's accounted for fiscally might affect method used.

Irish SPs are significantly higher than UK's so it would be a significant fiscal hit for Ireland. The more likely a unity referendum becomes the more the debate will move from an ideological one to a financial one.

There are 2 parts to this. First NI state pensioners would have to be treated equally in a UI, or at least not worse off, with Ireland funding them at Irish rates. Second, for taking the financial burden of NI's SOs off UK's hands Ireland would expect remuneration from UK of some sort.

Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.
