Played the duskbloods demo and its meh. Locking weapons to characters really limits the sense of progression/variety. PvP is alright but not smth I would want to play over and over again. The controls + boss fights are less elegant/precise than nightreign. I respect the originality though.

I miss NSO game vouchers. Those at least felt like you were getting a deal on new SW1 games. The $10 price cut to SW2 digital games like FE:FW just feels like a price increase on physical. $80 for one game is just unrealistic, even if they have a sizable scope.

The time management element of FE still seems like a big hassle, but bein able (and encouraged) to play all the Fortune's Weave routes in parallel is huge, and I'm a sucker for any sort of true ending. That said, I do worry the post-timeskip story will be less interesting than pre-timeskip.

Playing FFTactics made me appreciate Triangle Strategy even more. They've got plenty parallels in their story and TS reimagines several jobs. (Like Decimal being a less broken Arithmetician) I also now appreciate things TS added like increased party size or brief overworld sections.

A man interviews for a job. The interviewer points to a literal wordless gap in the interviewee's resume and asks "what is this gap on your resumé" The interviewee, with an evil grin implores the interviewer to "look closer..." The interviewer sweats as he witnesses and evil aura with ominous humming noises emotting from the resume. The interviewer now finds himself trapped in the gap in the resume. The interviewee laughs malevolently.

If I had a nickel for every murder mystery point and click visual novel that release this year and has mermaid in the title, I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it is strange it happened twice.

the xenoblade 1 upgrade could be literally nothing but voiced heart to hearts and it'd still be worth the $10

Thoughts on Splat Raiders: Salmon Run is easily the most fun part of Splatoon, and having what looks like more of it in a single player context with a progression system/story is smth I am very down for. I hope it is a little more substantial and less repetitive than Side Order though.

Just realized the pokemon game I choose out of split releases is always the first one listed in the duo/trio. Listing the ones I played: HG/SS->HG, D/P/Pt->D, B/W->B, X/Y->X, OR/AS->OR, Sun/Moon->Sun, Sca/Vio->Sca. With winds and waves I’m already leaning to winds too so maybe the pattern will hold.

Once again, the NSO playtest has reminded me how much I want a Xenoblade or Pokemon MMO. Switch 2's definitely got the tech, its just a matter of whether they have the time and means to make it happen.

I was expecting a few more first party games, like animal crossing/splatoon or zelda. Not a ton of games I'm personally interested in for the launch window. And HOO BOY that pricing structure... This generation might suck...

If nintendo are gonna remove nso vouchers and gold points, maybe they could have the decency to discount their games quicker and in greater amounts. (Thinkin about famicom detective club and its 0 discounts after 4 years) This $70 game era is gonna sting.

It’s really sick that N7 and E17 are getting translated after all these years. I don’t personally enjoy them nearly as much as Uchikoshi’s other works, but I’m glad they’re getting another shot. They’re p interesting historically as a Uchi fan. (Maybe this means R11 could also come one day too.)

I rewatched the yugioh chronicle animation and MAN it hit just as hard as it did 9 months ago. What a sick showcase of some of the most appealing archetypes of the past decade. I've been watchin Go Rush and enjoyin it a ton, but I still can't wait to see what they're cookin for the next TCG show...

If I was to give my personal GOTY, it'd be FF14 since I've been having a TON of fun progressin from ARR - EW. As for smth that actually released this year, its gotta be Trails through Daybreak. A great standalone story with one of my favorite casts and loads of slick gameplay/graphical improvements.

Random prediction: I think a Yakuza 0 remake isn’t out of the realm of possibility. It has been nearly 10 years since it came out, and it’d have a perfect ecosystem to release to in Switch 2. Plus it was limited by the specs of the PS3 and couldnt have the physics + fully loaded world K2 had.

I'm so used to VNs being $20 2 years after release. Then I look at Famicom Detective Club which has been $60 for the past 3 years. (Save for a singular gamestop sale) Even tho it recently got a sequel, so it'd be a good idea to discount it to encourage people to buy the series. Maybe someday...

I was sayin how I was hopin there'd be a Xenoblade MMO, but honestly X is pretty dang close, I forgot how in depth a lot of its online connectivity is... It's fairly complex just reading over the wiki, but I think it'll make for some fun hangouts (and be huge motivation for me to grind).

It was a surprise seeing the Ys X demo be only 3GB, but it was a downright SHOCK seeing the entire game be 6.8GB. I know Ys isn't a big budget RPG, but its still super refreshing to see. Huge s/os to PH3 for doing a great job optimizing + adding QoL stuff to this game and other Falcom games).

I've been playin the Ys X demo on steam and I'm really surprised how far its lettin me go. Already on chapter 3 with 4 hours in (and since its an action packed ys game it feels more like 6 or 8) I'm really vibin with a lot of the tweaks they've made to the combat with the mana thread / duo mode.

Beat echoes of wisdom and it stands tall alongside ALBW as one of the few traditional zeldas that didn’t give me a headache. Really dang fun with some smooth exploration, even if a bit clunky to control.

Wish uninstall programs would tell me what folders they planned on messing with. I uninstalled steam from my family's 10 yr old computer, and for some reason it wiped the entire downloads folder, with no way to recover it. Thankfully there wasn't anything important in there.

One last thing I'm lookin forward to: Mario and Luigi Brothership in just a couple weeks. The artstyle, animation, character design, gameplay, its all SO DAMN GOOD. I played a ton of BiS + DT in highschool and missed it a ton. It's gonna be so surreal playing it again after all these years.

Also excited for the yugioh early days collection, not for itself but for the potential of a sequel where they compile all the really jank console games like forbidden memories or duelist of the roses. I've experienced yugioh (DM) plenty, but its very appealin doin with super non-standard gameplay.

Its only october, but I'm so pumped for switch 2. Just the thought of Monolith being allowed to completely pop off on a console already has my mind racing, with how much they pushed the switch 1 with every game they made and contributed to. (Maybe mmo xenoblade isn't impossible...)

If my account gets found by random folks, here's a few game recs for you: Ys 8, Xenoblade Chronicles and Zero Escape. Too lazy to explain why you should play them, you're just gonna have to trust me on these. They're not for everyone but I liked them a bunch.
