Stadt Land Ost West
Die Kluft zwischen Stadt und Land ist erstaunlich flach und weniger bedeutend als die zwischen Ost und West.

Yesterday, @rgarciadelhorno.bsky.social presented his paper "There is nothing here! Unequal access to services and rural resentment in Spain" to my BA seminar about the rural-urban divide in Europe. Thank you, Rubén, for giving my students the opportunity to talk to a seasoned scholar!
Rubén giving a presentation. The slide reads "Which kind of rural dwellers are more resentful?", and below, gives several possible answers to this question, divided into contextual and compositional factors.

@jessicakuhlm.bsky.social & @antonialang.bsky.social contrast the phenomenon of (rural) areas with relatively few immigrants being especially hostile towards immigration and high in support for right-wing populist parties with not necessarily inversed urban areas (🔓): doi.org/10.1016/j.el...

🎉 Really happy to see my first single-authored article published in @politicalgeography.bsky.social ! It analyses how inequalities in access to basic services (healthcare, education, roads, and internet coverage) affect levels of rural resentment 👇 [1/5] www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Told a colleague presenting a paper today that his research was neither novel nor interesting and that he failed to engage with the relevant literature. #WomenInMaleFields

Bildinhalt:
Man sieht einen Waschbären, der zwischen zwei großen Bäumen hängt – mit ausgestreckten Armen und Beinen, als würde er sich verzweifelt festklammern. Die Situation wirkt angespannt und instabil.

Text im Bild:
	•	Oben beim Waschbären: “ME” (Ich)
	•	Linker Baum: “STAYING INFORMED ON THE AMERICAN DUMPSTER FIRE”
(Informiert bleiben über das politische/gesellschaftliche Chaos in den USA)
	•	Rechter Baum: “MY MENTAL HEALTH”
(Meine mentale Gesundheit)

Captain Haddock looking very frazzled, saying, “What a week, huh?”
Tintin leans into the frame and says, “Captain, it’s Wednesday.”
Snowy is very excited about the drink he has found.

Gamer sind politisch. Sie sind aber keine politisch homogene Gruppe! Die neue Studie "Spielräume für Demokratie" zeichnet ein detailliertes BIld einer Gruppe über die viel geredet wird, aber selten anhand von empirischen Daten.

if you work online all day, avoid eye strain with the 20-20-20 rule! after 20 minutes of work, look at something 20 feet away, then leave ithaca to fight in the trojan war and return 20 years later a broken man
