My Mississippi squad at the Outer Space Treaty French language workshop at McGill. Co-Director of McGill's Institute of Air and Space Law, Andrea Harrington and Dean of Loyola Chicago School of Law, Michèle Alexandre. It was lovely to be reunited, and to get to speak French for a couple of days.

Delighted to be at McGill in Montreal for the French language workshop on the Outer Space Treaty translation project. It's delightful to be in a bilingual room and to get to speak French and think about treaty translation.

At my favorite ClassCrits conference, this year held at Mitchell Hamline Law School. Thank you to Kim Vu-Dinh for organizing and hosting the conference. As always, inspired by my amazing colleagues whose ideas keep me going when things get difficult.

Arday's death is appalling. He was hounded by the media and vilified to the level of Jimmy Saville. No one outside of academic and news-obsessed circles should have even known about this. But instead, everyone who had ever interacted with him and disliked him was trotted out in opinion pieces.

$7.49 for 5 lbs (2.2 kg) of non-organic standard Yukon gold potatoes at our Kroger in Mississippi. How many Americans are going hungry because they can't afford basic staples? These are the kinds of prices that, if they continue to increase at these rates, will eventually lead to revolution.
Sign showing $7.49 for 5lbs of Yukon gold potatoes. The bag of potatoes can also be seen.

The World Cup looks like it is morphing into March Madness geographic regions: The Francais region (France vs Morocco) The North Germanic region (Norway v England) The Habsburg region (Spain v No Jinx but I’ll say they like Waffles) And likely South America (Argentina v Colombia)

WTO TRADE FACILITATION AGREEMENT IN TROUBLE Concluding a trade agreement is a start, not an end. The agreement must be implemented. Here, developing countries are involved. A novelty: they can seek help to comply with this agreement and benefit. That’s under threat. 1/5 docs.wto.org/dol2fe/Pages...
Screenshot of the top part of the opening page of the linked document, a "Lessons Learned" report by the Trade Facilitation Agreement Facility's Secretariat, including this in the introduction: “1.1. The Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) provides, for the first time in a WTO Agreement, a pathway, with the support of development partners, for technical assistance and capacity-building (TACB) for the implementation of commitments.”

This is such an important symbolic moment and I'm glad many MPs felt that. The far right party Mi Hazánk's parliamentary delegates got up and walked out when the children's orchestra entered parliament to perform the Roma anthem. This is behavior befitting a hate group, not a political party.

Incoming Hungarian PM Péter Magyar went on Orbán's state TV today for the first time in 18 months: "This factory of lies will end once the Tisza govt is formed... What has been going on here since 2010, which even Goebbels or the North Korean dictator would have been envious of, cannot continue."

So excited to get my hands on this book by @schuneke.bsky.social today! The fab In Bed With The Right podcast tuned me in to this work, and it resonates with my archival work on women convicted of political crimes in Stalinist Hungary. I love when works of history are also good reads, as this is.

Péter Magyar came to my parents' town. It's a town of around 8000 people, forgotten by everyone. No national politician has ever showed up there. Magyar did. My almost 80 year old parents went to the market square to see him speak. He did a proper whistle stop tour of the country. 1/2

Orbán's electoral crushing is a far greater achievement than most people outside Hungary realise. He systemically consolidated power for 16 years, fixed the electoral map, abused govt power for political purposes & censored media. The hurdles that Hungarians overcame for this moment were immense.

I don’t relish this. But, if law profs try to sell the Supreme Court a historical fantasy and change a constitutional rule for 340 million people, which if adopted, destroys the entire constitutional order. Honesty must yield to niceties. We have a higher calling. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

You know it's a hoarder's bookstore when the books are overpriced and you can't move around to access most of them. Mad props to the man (owner I presume) who was just calmly reading a book in a narrow chair by the entrance with no intention of making any sales. New Orleans is a magnificent place.
An incredibly hoarded bookstore filled with books from floor to nearly ceiling with almost no paths to move through.
