Think the #rust compiler is slow? Well MS Defender for Mac is even slower, to the point that using something like `kache` makes the build _slower_ than re-compiling everything due to all the scanning. Impressive...

A few years ago I wrote a basic Gameboy emulator in #rust [1]. I'm glad I did it "by hand", and it was a fun rabbit hole for my brain to hyperfocus on for a while, but once it worked well enough to play Zelda or Super Mario Land 2, I quickly moved on to something else. [1]: github.com/abusch/gb-rs

You know how `neovim` (or any IDE with rust-analyzer) can display the rustdoc of any type (including `std`) in markdown format? I would love to be able to look up any type from `std` and see its documentation in that format. Basically doc.rust-lang.org/stable/std/ but in markdown and in my IDE.

i'm really proud of this policy. it's not perfect, but i think it's close to the best that was possible given all the constraints. i'm excited that this will make things easier for mods and reviewers, and hopeful that it will spark change in Rust's governance. blog.rust-lang.org/inside-rust/...

Is it me or is @typst.app entire rendering stack made up of unmaintained crates at this point 😞 (ttf-parser, fontdb, rustybuzz...). I guess given how core they are it's not going to be a trivial update though.

fixed your headline
A hit song on the Billboard 100 charts is termed *$k$-good* if it is _ever_ in a weekly top-$k$, and *$k$-immediate* if it _debuts_ in the top-$k$.

An artist is *$(n,k)$-Olivian* if their $n$ first $k$-good hits are all also $k$-immediate.

*Headline 1.* Olivia Rodrigo is the first $(10,10)$-Olivian woman.

Of all common ADHD symptoms, emotional dysregulation was one of the most surprising to me, but also one of the most "Holy shit, that's me and that explains so much". But boy, there's nothing like having your entire career, skills, and experience being put into question at work to make it flare up 😓

I've been running into "the working copy is stale" quite a bit lately with #jj-vcs. I thought it was due to me trying out the watchman feature, but I disabled it and it's still happening. Not sure what I've changed in my workflow to trigger that... maybe something in #jjui changed?
