Today I discovered that my old lady cat is mostly deaf, which may explain why she yells so loudly. My old man cat is very skinny and we are now adding calories to his diet. The Super Senior years are hard but they are worth it.

Little monster 💜 Has she been there 6 months yet?

My nephew is in dorm. He is deaf and blind, plus mobility challenges. His orientation (or at least in his first few days) he was told where to wait. I hate it.

Thank you. It's been there for 30 years, I suspect the next 30 will be the same, but with some understanding of things.

The Seattle sky looking out across Elliott Bay towards Bainbridge and the Olympics right now is… lit.

Colorful sunset over the bay, clouds with pink and orange, above a mountain line with clouds hanging below the top of the mountains along the water.

Your thread is reminding me of Lisa Adams at the old place (back when it was good).

Screenshot of Lisa B. Adams tweet from 2015: Find a bit of beauty in the world today. Share it. If you can't find it, create it.
Some days this may be hard to do. Persevere.

It's only hit me in the past 2 months how much this practice - years of it now - is helping me.

Please. Even amidst the warranted anger and outrage, find something to love. Find something beautiful or funny or tasty or something that makes your soul sing. Practice noticing it. Think about it when you have down time. Love something. Love someone. #SpreadLove

I have never - probably will never - felt distant from ending my own life but my gratitude muscle helps pull me forward these days. Today I saw blue hydrangeas blooming right beside a tree turning fall red, and it's all right outside of my door. Wonderful.

And I don't mean "omg I'm amazing for doing this" but it's also something I encourage for folks. It really really reminds me that the world keeps turning, that joy is rebellious, and that I can find reasons to carry on.

Thursday I get to go to a talk about the intelligence of octopus and then next Friday is a puppet slam and ... My life is still wonderful. My gratitude muscle is strong. I started by making myself find something beautiful in every day. It has saved me.

Mine opened about a year ago. The first few months were a madhouse, but it's not so bad now. Love their hot bar!

This is one of my deepest held beliefs. I love her, she is my home, but the feeling is not mutual.

I don't want to cover up all of the stories coming out, it's important that they can and do, but it feels so important to remember that not everyone is bad.

In my (lucky, I admit) life it has been the norm. That's not to say there aren't monsters. That's not to say shit doesn't need to change. I just think that when you tell people, again and again, that they are evil by nature you create something self fulfilling.

In college I had a stalker. My boyfriend and his roommate made a refuge for me in their dorm room. Men can do good things. We all can.

As they approach budget season, the "the state can't help us and the federal government won't" message in our city council is really ... you can tell that shit has changed.

Unsolved Mysteries scared the shit out of me. The "documentary" my neighbor watched about eating dogs really fucked with my understanding of food. Whatever program I overheard about an elderly woman eating catfood instead of people food bc it was cheaper is what broke me though.

I can't say I look forward to this every year because, you know, but I look forward to a physical mourning space where all of the friends we have lost can be represented.
