[AI LLM thoughts] with all the "oh actually if AI is used for decompiling and reverse engineering corpo stuff that's fine" I can't wait until people realize that you can actually just go ahead and build something better instead. and that this actually goes way further and you can just go ahead […]

[AI, LLM ponderings] I still find it really amazing how if you use a 1-8b param model and you copy its output back to itself, it'll usually interact with it as if it's being said by the user. whereas if you take a 20-30b param model and you do the same, it'll usually ask why its own output is […]

now with alt text, the BioWare goodbye message, since the studio got closed down for corporate greed reasons. #Bioware
For more than 30 years, BioWare has been more than a studio. It has been a home for storytellers, developers, and the players who brought our worlds to life.

Baldur's Gate. Neverwinter Nights.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Dragon Age. Mass Effect. Anthem.

Now, after more than three decades of shared adventures, BioWare is closing and early development on the next Mass Effect project is ending.

There is nothing easy about writing those words. Our focus right now is on our incredibly talented team who put their hearts into these games, and supporting one another through this transition.

What generations of BioWare built together is something to celebrate and remember. These games became so much more because you played them, debated your choices, fell in love with the characters, and made these worlds your own.

From all of us at BioWare, thank you for being the most meaningful part of our story.

BioWare™

those self-declared 'cyber experts' you see awkwardly explaining 'how dire' things are on TV right now are completely misunderstood. you see you might be thinking 'what a brainless wanker' but that's entirely correct, they're an expert in cybering, not cyber-security. it's a common mistake […]

I really want people to necroboost more, and I'm not even joking. Just because a post is from 2, 5 or 10+ years ago, doesn't make it irrelevant, in fact, if anything it is delightful to see how it holds up in the new context, and if it became more true for example. Good posts can come from […]

okay for those who aren't in on the news yet, here's a short summary: A certificate authority named eMudhra (also brand EmSign) has had a whole chain of their certificates bruteforced/leaked, seemingly because they were extremely trivial keys that were mere simple numbers (like 4). I guess it […]

honestly? call me crazy but I don't think it's coincidence that the private key was literally 4. I think that's the clearest hint we have that this was either testing infra or a backdoor. (but yes, it could still be coincidence, of course). xkcd.com/221
xkcd comic, it's just text that is a random number function, which returns 4. it shows a comment stating "chosen by fair dice roll. guaranteed to be random."

literally the text:
int getRandomNumber()
{
    return 4; //chosen by fair dice roll.
                   // guaranteed to be random.
}

I tested my upgraded Nissan Leaf (AZE0)'s battery, driving it from 94% to nearly empty, I got 70.5kWh(!!!) out of it according to LeafSpy, with supposedly 5.4kwh+ (State of Charge still 10%??) remaining. so I guess I actually have more like 80kWh? which […] [Original post on mastodon.derg.nz]

It shows:
74 GIDs 9.5%
Chrg 13km
SOC -> 10.0%
8.0 (7.5) km/kWh
A meter with the battery power usage per group (Batt Aux Hetr A/C all being 0 besides batt at 267 Watts)
5.7 kilowatt hours Remain
