now with alt text, the BioWare goodbye message, since the studio got closed down for corporate greed reasons. #Bioware
For more than 30 years, BioWare has been more than a studio. It has been a home for storytellers, developers, and the players who brought our worlds to life.

Baldur's Gate. Neverwinter Nights.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Dragon Age. Mass Effect. Anthem.

Now, after more than three decades of shared adventures, BioWare is closing and early development on the next Mass Effect project is ending.

There is nothing easy about writing those words. Our focus right now is on our incredibly talented team who put their hearts into these games, and supporting one another through this transition.

What generations of BioWare built together is something to celebrate and remember. These games became so much more because you played them, debated your choices, fell in love with the characters, and made these worlds your own.

From all of us at BioWare, thank you for being the most meaningful part of our story.

BioWare™

honestly? call me crazy but I don't think it's coincidence that the private key was literally 4. I think that's the clearest hint we have that this was either testing infra or a backdoor. (but yes, it could still be coincidence, of course). xkcd.com/221
xkcd comic, it's just text that is a random number function, which returns 4. it shows a comment stating "chosen by fair dice roll. guaranteed to be random."

literally the text:
int getRandomNumber()
{
    return 4; //chosen by fair dice roll.
                   // guaranteed to be random.
}

there's something funny about the food I had at work today I just can't put my finger on it #food
A canteen plate on a fake-wooden canteen table with 3 plates, a big and a small one.

Each of the small ones has a Kroket (a dutch deepfried ragout snack that is basically a brown breadcrumbed perfect turd), one having samphire/kelpwort (green seaweed sort of garnishing of a plant) and a Kroket with white-ish sauce on it and some salad thing.

A second small plate has another Kroket on it with a raspberry and some white stuff next to it.

The third bigger plate has a whole bunch of soybean (Edamame) on it, a chicken wing, and the remainder of a third Kroket, that is partially mixed with the Edamame, as well as some onions and some mustard.

In the corner of the screen, half of a green can of 'green iced tea' is visible

they actually got back to me on it, seems like it's purely 'wording' and the "Subscribe to pledgebox newsletter for reward tracking update" checkbox can be left unchecked (pun not intended) and you'll still receive updates even if you don't check this box at all
Email back from Pledgebox support:
Hi [blurred],

Thank you for reaching out.

We’d like to clarify that unsubscribing from the PledgeBox newsletter will not affect emails related to your survey. If you choose not to subscribe to the PledgeBox newsletter, you will still receive survey-related emails, including survey emails and shipping notification emails.

You can also choose whether or not to tick these options based on your preferences.

For shipping and fulfillment, these are handled directly by the project creator. Therefore, if you have any questions regarding shipping, fulfillment, or related notifications, we recommend contacting the creator directly for further information.

We hope this helps. Please feel free to reach out if you need any further assistance.

I instructed an LLM to write up an email and after some changes it turned into this. I don't want to spend too much effort on it because it's more a principle thing, but it's something at least. It tries to word it as a potential wording issue, gives them space to be nice about it.
Hello PledgeBox team,While completing the survey for the KodeDot, I noticed the wording of the two communication checkboxes shown in the attached screenshot: [screenshot from previous post]

The first asks me to subscribe to the PledgeBox newsletter for both reward-tracking updates and campaign recommendations. This appears to suggest that I need to subscribe to marketing to receive tracking updates, even though I can unsubscribe afterwards. The reassurance that survey updates will continue does not clearly explain whether reward and shipping updates are also independent of the newsletter subscription.

The second asks for a single agreement to the creator using my email address and phone number for “marketing and notifications.” This leaves me unsure how to decline creator marketing without also appearing to decline necessary notifications about my pledge.

My concern is therefore about the apparent bundling of marketing consent with fulfilment communications, rather than simply whether an unsubscribe option is available later. My understanding is that GDPR requires consent to be freely given, specific and informed, and that making necessary fulfilment communications conditional on accepting unrelated marketing would not meet those requirements (particularly Article 7(4) and Recital 43).

I appreciate that this may not be the intended meaning of the checkboxes, but the current wording leaves me unsure whether I can decline marketing without also declining important updates about my pledge.

Could you please confirm that I can leave both boxes unticked from the outset, complete the survey, and still receive the ordinary pledge, fulfilment, shipping and tracking notifications that would otherwise be sent?

If those notifications are already independent of the marketing choices, could you please make that explicit alongside the checkboxes? It would also help to separate optional marketing opt-ins from the explanation of how necessary service notifications are delivered.

I appreciate that this may be a wording issue rather than how the system actually operates. Thank you for checking it and passing it to your privacy/data-protection contact where appropriate.

Pledgebox seems to require marketing subscriptions in order to get updates about your kickstarter pledges. That doesn't seem very GDPR, so I'm going to email them about this.
two checkboxes on a checkout form. it reads:
checkbox 1: Subscribe to PledgeBox Newsletter for Reward Tracking Update & Hot kickstarter campaign recommendations.
You may unsubscribe from the PledgeBox Newsletter anytime.
Survey updates will still reach you.

checkbox 2: I agree that the Creator may use my email and phone number for marketing and notifications via email or SMS.
