COS is announcing important changes to the Open Science Framework (OSF). OSF Projects—used for project collaboration, file mgmt, & storage—is being phased out as an active workspace over the next 6 months. This change does not affect persistence & accessibility of existing public projects. (🧵1/2)

Excited to share my lab's new preprint. We argue that the majority share of periodic rhythms and 1/f aperiodic features of the scalp EEG power spectrum originate from the non-stationary dynamics of EEG microstates. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Macroscale dynamics of EEG microstates determine the periodic and aperiodic features of the neural power spectrum
The global signal characteristics of scalp-recorded electroencephalography (EEG) are composed of periodic oscillatory rhythms and aperiodic broadband fluctuations that together constitute the neural p...

Why is our attention span limited? In our new paper, my lab tracked the millisecond dynamics of EEG microstates and their links to sustained attention. Microstates explained links between inattention and prestimulus alpha. A thread: doi.org/10.3758/s134...

I always assumed that brain function had to line up with cytoarchitectonics. It turns out I was wrong. Human cortex, especially PFC, is tiled by chains of functional patches that subdivide and interlink architectonic areas into parallel processing streams. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

My lab has been using a new behavioral task paradigm, first developed by the Engle lab, to investigate sustained attention, mind wandering, and "attention span", independent of changes occurring over the course of task sessions (i.e., time-on-task). You can access our first paper here: rdcu.be/fbbIP
