My dad is in UPMC Altoona; he’s fine, or will be. But that fucking place, man. The ER was bursting at the seams at 2pm, patients on stretchers in the hall (I guess HIPAA doesn’t apply there). No incentive to build a bigger hospital where so many people are on Medicare/Medicaid I guess.

When I lived in the dorms at Pitt, my RA took me to the ER with a migraine. There was a guy in the ER who was shot (he seemed fine!). He was wearing a big puffy down coat so the ER was filled with feathers. You think Mattress Factory would let me create the scene as an installation?

Western PA is such a sad example of people who have fallen for anti-union propaganda. If you’re from there, there’s a strong chance your parents or grandparents were in a union. Mine were and despite having more education, I’m worse off than my parents (who were worse off than my grandparents).

I always loved Halloween growing up. It was the one night a year (aside from the St. Therese's Parish Carnival) when we were allowed out after dark without adult supervision. I’m sure parents now don’t let 4th graders trick or treat unsupervised but you all should totally start that again.

I took apart my dryer and fixed the broken belt. Had to get my kid to hold the drum up while I worked and he left a flashlight inside so we had to take it apart again 🙃. Bonus victory: found so many quarters and guitar picks!
