Not *the* Iain MacDonald: just another Iain MacDonald. Outer Hebridean Inner Londoner. Harmonising with The Everly Brothers. One man's civilisation is another man's jungle. You might as well laugh - you won't get your money back. Also @ukcovidghostsigns

A hangover from the days (aka my childhood) when some families didn't have a camera and those who did might take 2-3 rolls of 24 photos a year, so the school photos - individual and class - were precious. Conversely, during my daughter's time they stopped taking class photos, child safety I presume.

Heard him recently on The Rockonteurs podcast, in case that's not one you've heard yet; very entertaining, and level-headed, I thought.

Not exactly the same, but I like romcoms, and a combination of that and resolving to read books by people I enjoyed on social media led me to confirm through experience that - shock horror - books dismissed as 'chicklit' are excellent and can be enjoyed by both men and women.

It will never not be wild to me that the Russians attacked Keir Starmer's home, successfully spread falsehoods about Starmer's love life, and this didn't changed British politics and British political elite behaviour *at all*.

Early Beatlemania was fuelled by teenage girls, but they won't tell you that.

Women and girls have always been the trendsetters and the tastemakers.

Hi NancyKay; there are 32/33 London Boroughs; each will set their own school terms, but they'll be pretty similar (private schools make their own rules). This helpful page - www.primarytimes.co.uk/se_london/sc... - lists them in sections, with a drop-down menu to see other sections.

Many tales of school assemblies arising. We never had such a thing as school assemblies where I grew up, so no stories to tell; I'd say I felt deprived, but given some of these stories, maybe not so much. #coolstorybro

My bus stopped next to a day nursery playground for a couple of minutes, and watching the staff and children over the wall from the top deck it looked like a happy world and a dream job. For that couple of minutes, at least.

"Girl with the pearl earring" flashed into my mind this morning, when I accidentally recreated it in a moment I'm calling "Old man with the urticaria tries to see the hives on his back in a mirror". I will not be painting it at this time. Or any other time.
Famous painting referred to.

Our move fell through so didn't use them in the end, but we were amazed at how little extra the full packing service cost on top of the moving cost, around £300 from memory, and had absolutely booked that in as well worth it. (Reputable firm.)

(Being able to sing in tune is just called "being able to sing in tune", it seems.)
010
Another Iain @anotheriain.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Having gone down an internet rabbit hole to check my own understanding, it turns out that relative pitch isn't about being able to sing in tune but this: if someone plays a note and tells you it's an A, you will be able, based on that information, to name the next note they play.

Another Iain @anotheriain.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Your question marks prompt me to say, in case this is what you are wondering, that aiui perfect/good relative pitch is the ability to sing in tune, while perfect pitch is the ability to hear a note and say "that's an A" or to be asked "sing an A" and to be able to sing an A.
