as the 6th year of i'm an animal is coming up (started on 2Oct20!!!) + chp12 update soon + autumn is here, i wanted to share a sort of "notes on a scene" for the fic so far. hope you enjoy 🫶 #mishfic #reylofic | modern au | american psycho (2000) x industry (2020)

moodboard for a "notes on a scene" thread of the reylo fanfic i'm an animal by pocketsofdaisy on ao3 - featuring the new york city skyline, a street sign with the word psychopath, a newspaper with the words "KILLER STILL" printed as the headlines, a scrawl that says "The Devil In All His Glory Is Just A Sad Little Boy", the actor Adam Driver from his Rolling Stone 2019 photoshoot, a photo of a rose against the sunset, a banking traders floor and their computer screens, the actor Daisy Ridley during her Star Wars Force Awakens press tour, a shadow of a couple being intimate, a TV station crew with the words "Nightly News" displayed behind, the actor Adam Driver (but no idea where this is or wtf he was looking at but if it was a person, i hope they are ok and alive), an investigation/evidence board with red threads and the signage for a university's department of psychology.

summary:

Like everyone else, she notices him—tall, mysterious and terribly suave, he’s that Mr. Big Shot that sits a couple of floors up, handling the most elite corporate clients. But why did he just ask her out? He doesn’t even know her.

“I’d like to get to know you, Rey,” he had told her.

Maybe she’s a little afraid of him, but she can’t help but want to know Ben Solo too.

A modern AU about a serial killer who falls in love with the sweet personal-assistant-next-door. This is a story of villain meets girl.

OR

Rey’s relationship with the Skywalker heir has dangerous consequences and Ben is writing a memoir titled "Serial Killer 101: How to tell the love of your life about your evil hobbies and STILL keep the girl."

how about childhood friends playing pool at a dive bar but ben destroys rey's date in a couple of rounds and she's 100% into it 🥰 #reylo #reylofic #mishfic

excerpt from the reylo fic on ao3 - the world would divide us - by pocketsofdaisy

“All right,” Emil says, working the chalk over his cue stick. “You first, Solo.” But as Ben leans his large frame onto the edge of the table, lining up his shot, Emil casually adds, “If you win, maybe we’ll tip your services above thirty-percent next round, huh?”
Rey cringes at the jibe. To everyone else, Ben doesn’t appear to react. He’s still fixated on the white ball, calculative, frozen in his anger. But Rey could see everything playing out on his face.
The raw fury in his eyes.
How the muscles in his jaw go taut.
A wild animal with its hackles up.
And he whacks the cue ball. Hard. It goes smashing into the other fifteen balls, breaking them apart and pocketing a solid. Rey bites back a smile. Watches him circle the table like a hawk before getting into position again. She ignores the sense of pride bubbling in her chest. It’s a teammate thing, she tells herself. That’s all. He pockets four more solids and sets up a defensive shot—clearly hellbent on obliterating Emil.
At last, Ben looks up. If he’s feeling smug, he’s concealing it extremely well.
“Your turn.”

Text body: She is talking to a patron sitting at the counter, his counter, and it doesn’t matter if the guy is a teenager or someone older, all that matters is the way Rey is smiling politely at him, and then she is laughing. It makes something in Ben’s stomach sink. He’s been bending over backward to find ways to make Rey laugh, and here she is doing it so effortlessly with a stranger.

a something off your TBR star sticker for the #reyloficit reading event

“That’s three times what a common laborer makes. Are you crazy? Just for some pictures of my fanny?” Her gaze narrowed at him. “You’re not going to expect me to knock it when I get there are you?”

It was his turn to look mildly lost, “I’m afraid I don’t know that term.”

She rolled her eyes heavenward and pointed boldly at his trousers. “Get it off. With you."

!!!!! this manip makes me miss the scene from my high school au - world would divide us - where ben drives rey home, sitting in silence while listening to elliot smith 🥹 #reylofic #mishfic archiveofourown.org/works/41431164

Tallie is the first to be dropped off. Rose goes second. As Ben pulls up in front of the Ticos’ waterfront residence, Rey stares out of her window, tracing the dark outline of the family’s sailboat that’s anchored to their private dock. Even in the dead of the night, the lake glows, its surface dotted with traces of moonlight and stars, like a fine dusting of diamonds.
“Get home safe, guys!” Rose says cheerfully.
After the pickup turns onto the main road, Ben switches on the radio. She’s thankful for that. The soft strumming of guitar from the Elliot Smith track will fill the gaps. The quiet spaces. Being alone with him is nerve-racking enough as it is—so, hearing her own heart pounding through the silence is the last thing she needs.
Five minutes later, he pulls into her driveway.
“Home alone?”
