I'd just add: the ascent in influence—from the lowest rung on the proverbial ladder of engagement to the many of the most powerful organizational roles in the city—is much flatter than many tend to assume. I'm a big Find a Grave guy and would like to nominate this for an as-yet-to-be-determined award for "Best 1920s-era Klansman's grave". In this case, the remains of cremation were never claimed.

Someone posted that clip of a brawl between Milt Wilcox and Lenny Randle when Wilcox pitched for Cleveland. I remember Wilcox from his run with the Tigers, which included the 1984 WS winning team. I'm sure his numbers don't impress. His 16 complete games in 1978 was 7th most that year in the AL.
