Scott Reef consists of three atoll islands, visibile here in the centre of the image, in the blue of the Indian Ocean, with scattered whites clouds all over the image. The three atolls are different in shape and size. The biggest one is bow-shaped, the middle one is heart-shaped, the smallest one is almost egg-shaped. At upper left two almost circular bright spots on the ocean surface are visible. Here the ocean surface is rougher than elsewhere apparently, reflecting more sunlight. Shapes like these on the surface of the ocean sometimes are kind of footprints of earlier heavy showers. The image was taken at 9:24 a.m. local time. Satellite images from around this time do not show any shower activity, so this local sea roughness probably has another cause.
