Found an ancient comic I did from the early 2000s

A comic featuring a girl sitting on an airplane tapping the screen in front of her. She's thinking "Ooh, a flight tracker! I wonder how longer it'll be..."

I genuinely cannot express how much joy I get from making comics. Writing AND drawing. Especially since letting go this need to turn my work into a side hustle. I just fucking love making comics, it makes my heart want to explode

I know we’re tired of AI takes but please please please read The Oatmeal’s take. It’s the best one. theoatmeal.com/comics/ai_art

Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars. OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

Every new AI image gen model that comes out is - to some degree - marketed as a tool that can be leveraged my professional artists. and *every time*, i want to be like oh, sweet baby girl, you don’t know that this is bad art. How cute that you think we would find this useful. *pats head*

Sometimes we’re unsatisfied with a thing we made because when it only existed in our head, we saw all the things it could have been and when it’s done we know all the things that it isn’t, but we can’t see the way it expands into a million new things when someone else unpacks it in their head. 🖊️🦑

Frustrated little dude gripping a pencil saying “how do I pack this down into something I can actually share?” While swirling rainbows labeled “INFINITE POTENTIAL” float around them.

Little dude frowns at a tiny grey box, exclaiming “all that work for THIS?!”

Little dude shoves the grey box into another little guy’s hands; Frowning, stomping off, and saying “Here you go, I made this, it sucks.”

Second little dude cracks open the box, swirling rainbows project out onto their face.

Second little dude stares in awe at all the swirling rainbows now floating around them.

It's my Birthday today!💫🎉 Can I ask for a customary share of my art? ✨ Big Announcement: I thought about it very hard, and finally decided to open a crowdfunding to help me out with my Top Surgery. Keep an eye out for later this year, I'd be very grateful for all the help I can get 🥹 Love you all 💙

Testing out drawing the actual panels, gonna play around with color palettes soon #comics #comicbook #oc #comicart #comicbookart

The beginnings of an ink, comic book page. Panel one a man wearing a cowboy hat glances to the side smoking. Panel 22 deputies pause, eyes wide, three a larger panel, where the man in panel one jumps from the train.

I cannot imagine being an artist that does dreamy, high-fidelity fantasy anime-esque illustrations in 2025. The amount of “THIS IS AI SLOP” accusations must be insane. I feel for them 😭

Like, the technology is genuinely cool! AND ALSO these models simply cannot not without a stolen amount of data.

I work in tech and my job is constantly inundated with AI stuff. I’m also a comic book artist on the side. I have worked hard to approach AI with an open heart. I’ve tried dozens of tools. My takeaway is that AI is, at best, an idea or reference photo generator. It’s just not that useful.

Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users. While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

Jack + Marian + 🌅 actual comic will not be as cheesy as this scene I PROMISE #oc #sketch #comics #charactersketch #illustration #art

The finished drawing of Jack and Marian. Marian sits on a boulder and demurely offers a hand to Jack. Behind them is a desert sunset. The scene looks cheesy as fuck.
