Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Thank you! When I’m in the thick of it, it feels like it will last forever. But rationally I know that it can’t. Man. It’s amazing how one can be undone by a little lack of sleep. 020
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Thank you. I feel like I am losing my mind haha. Last night I went to bed at 9 pm, then woke up at 11 pm with my mind spinning. What the hell. 120
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Unfortunately, it’s the butts. She might deny it, but the reality is that I’m right and she’s making excuses 010
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026The movie The War of the Buttons is an all-time favourite in our household, and this is the song that Little Con sings when he’s drunk as a skunk, so naturally it does numbers around here 1300
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026It’s the middle of the night here, I haven’t slept more than four hours in a night for 6+ weeks, but here’s a video that’s been bringing me joy: 510721
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026That would definitely make it feel very postmodern! 010
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026YES. I think a lot about the part where Sebastian is in that messy living situation in Morocco, and says that he gets some kind of fulfilment from living with the German guy because he likes being needed (crummy paraphrasing, I know). It just means so much to him to not be the damaged one, for once. 110
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026All those glorious butts. And incredible acting, beautifully shot, amazing script, etc. But the butts. 020
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Yeah that sounds about right! I normally hate adaptations, so I’m surprised by how much I’m enjoying this one (butts aside, even) 010
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Aw yeah you should! I love that she named one of the cats Sebastian, he’s such a wonderful character. 000
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026The more she tries to exert control, the worse the outcomes are. She’s awful, but I have some sympathy for her. Though of course not as much sympathy as I have for poor doomed Sebastian, who can’t admit to himself just how much he hates her. 130
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I guess I just want to pick people’s brains about all the relationship dynamics in the book. The mother fascinates me — she’s trying to micromanage her kids to fit into this elite insular world while also making sure they don’t turn out like their father, but eventually she realizes that 1/2 130
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026“What if they were sunbathing nude on the roof and we had double butts?” Genius, honestly. 020
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026The three of you are my favourite literary people maybe on this planet, so I cannot express how delightful this conversation is to me 130
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I love the abbreviation JIB and will use it all the time forthwith 010
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Having said that, I think my favourite character is Anthony Blanche, the only straight-talking (no pun intended) person in the novel who tries several times to tell it like it is to Charles 110
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026PLEASE. You can be in my Brideshead book club. 110
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Wish you were here! (So we could have in-depth discussions about this). I’ve been haunted by this book ever since I finished it. Among other things, I love the complicated relationships all of the Flyte siblings have with their parents (except maybe Brideshead, who is too oblivious for complexity) 220
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026HELL YEAH. I’m so excited that you’ve read and loved it. And I shouldn’t be surprised. Omg we NEED to talk about it the next time we hang out. I am ~slightly~ obsessed and need to get it all out. 110
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Ok perfect, you can be in my book club! It’s called Iron Butts 050
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Oh man!!! I wish you were geographically close to me so that we could go for a drink and dish about the whole Flyte family. 120
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I just want people to talk to about Brideshead Revisited, because no one I know in real life has ever read it. 12372
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I joke, but this is genuinely one of the best literary adaptations I’ve ever watched. The book is 430 pages, and the show is 11 episodes averaging about an hour each. It’s basically just the entire book, perfectly wrought. I mean, the audiobook is 11.5 hours unabridged, read by Jeremy Irons. So. 1331
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 10/10/2026If you ever want to see a young Jeremy Irons’ butt, may I recommend the 1981 Brideshead Revisited miniseries. Butts galore! 8664
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Me too!!! He clearly has a strong bond with the raccoon 010
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Only in Montreal can you quit your job to be a full time raccoon daddy 4526

Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I thought that must be it! Have the best time, I loved Sicily 010
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 04/10/2026SO good to see you today!! I hope the Peking Duck was incredible 041
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Omg where??? Train on a boat is like a dumpling of my favourite kinds of transport. 110
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Sorry!!! I should’ve included photo evidence. 000
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Very much agreed! I don’t understand why restaurant owners think this is a good idea, I feel like they must have some kind of AI blindness or something 110
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Hahaha to be fair, it’s a very hateable city! (The hate only makes it stronger). I don’t know why I still ride so hard for it five years after I left. I’m like one of those critters with toxoplasmosis trying to cozy up to the thing that wants to eat me. 110
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I was listening to a podcast about ALS today and learned that one of Lou Gehrig’s nicknames was Biscuit Pants because apparently he had a big fat case of junk in the trunk that looked like a pair of rear end biscuits in his little baseball uniform 3543
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Vancouver should be illegal. It shouldn’t be allowed to have the mountains AND the ocean. Banned. 020
Anne Thériault @annetheriault.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Like, oh, you guys had real urban planning? And now you don’t have a city that’s mostly made up of single family dwellings? And you have mid-rise buildings that were deliberately built to house families, not just rundown mansions carved up into crappy units and/or steel and glass high rises? WILD. 1532
