Let's just take a moment to enjoy the fact that @dailymail.co.uk's poll backfired on them yesterday. They wrote a misleading article about Violet Affleck's speech at the UN (she didn't call for a mask mandate), and expected their readers to say 'no' to masks in healthcare. 75% said YES. Love it👏

@mrjamesob.bsky.social Any chance of you covering this? It would make us all a lot less sick, and the number of people who die from being infected with Covid WHILE IN HOSPITAL would go down. Currently, 1 in 10 of those infected with covid in hospital die. Which seems important.

THIS! My teacher friends often buy their own hepa filters for classrooms. I also know parents who’ve bought top of the line, quiet hepa filters for schools only to see them sit unused while attendance crashes, and airborn illness abounds. We can and must do better to keep kids and teachers safe.

When I tell my colleagues that they should buy a MERV-13 air filter for their classrooms to try to keep themselves & their students safe, they look at me like I'm nuts, but if I tell them they should buy rope so they can escape out the window from an active shooter, they ask for recommendations

Of course it hasn't stood still in the last year, but alas the government has decided to stop counting, just like it did when 2 million people were shown to suffer with in it the ONS report. There is every chance its 150k+ children now and the GP report shows 3.2 million in the UK with Long Covid.

Hi @mrjamesob.bsky.social, Thanks for discussing Long Covid in children on your show today. As of March 2024, ONS reported that over 111K kids had Long Covid. And that’s just 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 & 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. If you extrapolate across the UK, it’s over 120K. The number nearly DOUBLED in a year between Mar 2023 & Mar 2024.
