Absolutely loved the ANA MENDIETA exhibition at Tate Modern, especially the works from her Silueta Series, in which she creates the outline or silhouette of a figure in the landscape using natural materials. Many of these pieces are haunting & ethereal, tapping into the fragile nature of life. #Art

Mendieta created Imágen de Yágul at the archaeological site of Yagul, in Oaxaca, Mexico. She spent the summer of 1973 in Oaxaca with artists from the University of lowa's Intermedia programme. In an interview, she describes making the work in an ancient open tomb that 'was covered in weeds and grasses- that growth reminded me of time... The analogy was that I was covered by time and history' Mendieta later considered Imágen de Yágul to be the first of her Silueta Series.

Niche UK academia question: does anyone have experience of producing accurate figures of how grants from charities contribute to university finances across a research cycle. The usual 'cost recovery' model produces anomalies. There must be other and more holistic ways of accounting for their value.

I’m desperately sad to hear that Tony Harrison has died. He was one of the first poets I ever saw read – in Leeds in the 1980s. But also, his was such a unique and powerful voice, and his blend of classicism and class consciousness remains potent - although he was much more than that as a poet.
